Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen Still Box Office Champ

Sitting pretty at Number 1, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen has edged out the competition to stay the number 1 movie in the United States Of America over the 4th of July weekend. The Almighty Dollar Has Spoken!!
It was close, like really really close. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen beat out Ice Age 3 by a sliver of moola.

Ice Age 3 41.8Million.

Keeping Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen in the number 1 spot for all of 2009. The world wide grand total for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is a whooping $591,459,000. That's just silly.

Say what you will about Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, be it the obvious plot holes or the doggy dry humping scenes, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen set out to be the number one 2009 Summer Movie Blockbuster popcorn flick in the United States Of America, and it did, not only the opening week, but also with a 61% drop in movie ticket sales the week after. That 61% drop in sales does not bode well for this movie's staying power. This weekend will tell the tale.

CockKnocker - 7/6/2009, 2:42 PM
this movie didn't reign supreme at the top of the box office - it tied with Ice Age 3.

Both movies made the same. Not sure where this report is coming from but I'm pretty sure it was a tie dude.

Maybe I missed an update - but I'm happy Ice Age 3 took a big chunk out of this movie's stupid ass.
Keven - 7/6/2009, 3:09 PM
the animated movie was good ... because the leader of the autobots Optimus Prime died ... Unheard of at that time... I couldn't believe it when i saw it ...
thegreek - 7/6/2009, 3:20 PM
Teabag@ you got the touch
superdog - 7/6/2009, 3:23 PM
@Keven

Yeah it's been updated that ROTF edged Ice Age 3 by $640,000.
alten2345 - 7/6/2009, 3:32 PM
ahhh christ.

you know what though? that's still f-ing close. and the fact that Ice Age 3 came ungodly close and took that much away from this thing - still makes me happy.

GUNSMITH - 7/6/2009, 4:40 PM
I'm really getting sick of the whole bay is crap nonsense. many here cant even hold a camera to shoot a documentary about the life of ducks, and yet a man has executed an xplosive blockbuster and we are quick to bash it because it isnt what we exactly wanted. well i guess the box office figures proves to u haters that you are totally in the minority, and every1 else loves this. u whiners have to start accepting that the world is bigger than you and your selfish wants.
out here in Nigeria we love Bay cos he delivers just what is expected-explosions! if i wanted great story, drama or oscar worthy perfomance i'd watch Benjamin Burton. Bay nailed this good and i see the figures rising to 'bout 800 Mill. y'all need to relax and enjoy these movies than nitpick at each flaw.
sugakane - 7/6/2009, 4:55 PM
@sugakane

You live in Nigeria?
alten2345 - 7/6/2009, 5:01 PM

sugakane - 7/6/2009, 5:33 PM

What up, I thought I was the only one with African heritage on this site. My mom was born and raised in Lagos, along with the rest of my extended family.

Just wanted to share some of miss, Fox's latest movie, it's the red band trailer so if you are minor... don't watch it (yeah right like that's gonna work)

NoobMike - 7/6/2009, 7:46 PM
Alright, I thought this movie was gonna fail due to the lack of non fans, but I really liked this movie alot! I knew the movie was worth the wait, I've been waiting for this movie since I saw the 1st, but I'm really glad that it got 2nd place right next to the Dark Knight. I hope this movie is movie of the year
Instantclassic - 7/6/2009, 8:56 PM
movie of the year? wow i hope to god somehting better than this come out... according to rotten tomatoes, ice age is number one but their (obviously rounded) numbers are the same... re u sure ice age didnt beat transformers by the sliver?

sugakane - 7/6/2009, 11:03 PM
Thts all it was a popcorn flick..I was expecting a little dribble from Bay but that movie had waaaaay to much comic relief, dumb dumb characters, and not enough transformers screen time. 2 stars at best
wolverine81 - 7/6/2009, 11:12 PM
Superdog@ You got the power
teabag - 7/7/2009, 1:10 AM
Having finally seen the Transformers over the holiday weekend, I can finally comment on it fairly. Overall, I thought it was enjoyable. I certainly saw plot holes in it, but this movie is held to a different standard. We got what we paid for here: giant robots beating the crap out of each other and Megan Fox in plenty of shots that will wear out the pause and slo-mo features of my dvd player. You don't go to a movie like this expecting anything really thought-provoking. This is just old-fashioned fluff, and as such, it worked just fine.

I enjoyed the good robot-on-robot action scenes, and didn't really mind the Twins that much (they were a minor distraction sometimes, but I've seen characters that were far more annoying). Most of the scenes that featured the robots fighting or interacting with each other and the humans were effective. I did NOT like Sam's roommate- what a whiny little poser- and I thought the giant balls on Devastator was pretty stupid. And didn't the Primes look like they all had big schlongs?
comicb00kguy - 7/7/2009, 7:31 AM
It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing either. Once again it was too much "Sam and his robotic friends", but that was to be expected. The fight scenes were good, but...I dunno. It just wasnt as good as I was hoping.
Also some of the humor was actually pretty funny, but a lot of it fell short. One thing that kinda confused me was the amount of innappropriate humor and cussing. It didn't bother me, but wasn't this movie marketed towards kids?
Phoenix9109 - 7/7/2009, 9:54 AM
Primes having big schlongs? lol.

i wouldn't be surprised....i would not be surprised if they did at all comicb00kguy....

and I'm not that negative Darthstern - not quite. I liked this movie more than I loathed it - but it was a close call. I was probably 60/40 in favor of this movie. But the 40 percent of hate was extreme hate.... and the 60 was just 'ok'....if that makes any sense...

the movie was stupid though people - it truly was, and I'm ashamed to say that I 'sort of' enjoyed my stupid experience watching this stupid exploding er3ction of a movie.
Keven - 7/7/2009, 11:34 AM
teabag@ no no.. cause when all hells breakin loose you'll be riding in the eye of the storm
superdog - 7/7/2009, 1:48 PM

ManhuntersBastardChild - 7/7/2009, 2:00 PM
finally more people see this movie as mediocre... last time i stated my opinion i was pounced on by mudflap lovers lol
fotc - 7/7/2009, 2:25 PM

Superdog your my instrument of destruction
teabag - 7/8/2009, 2:03 AM
Are you all dumb, seriously? Everyone has been shitting on the 'storyline' for RotF. It is a story about [frick]ing robots that turn into cars. Did you [frick]ing want Schindler's List? Hell, even the original cartoons were nothing more then commercials for toys. Just enjoy that action and don't worry about story with these movies. Nerds..
ThePrimera - 7/8/2009, 7:26 AM
HEY WE'RE ALL NERDS, WE JUST LIKE TAKING THINGS APART AND JUDGE THEM MORE BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT SOURCE MATERIAL WE LOVED WHEN IT REALLY BLEW UP..WHO WOULDNT GET DEFFENSIVE?..
GUNSMITH - 7/8/2009, 9:04 AM
@GUNSMITH Focusing on Megan Fox's acting ability and Michael Bay's directorial decisions is not 'judging on source material'. It is bad mouthing hard work. 'Judging' source material would mean talking about the Constructicons false color schemes and Soundwave not being a boombox and Optimus not being a flatnose big rig. That is source material discussion. Making blanket statements about the production aspects of a movie is in no way a talking source material.
ThePrimera - 7/9/2009, 5:05 PM
Ice Age is funny man

Optimus Prime is friends with Even Stevens
