New Transformers Comic Book Series Announced!

Due to the recent explosions at the box office caused by "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen," IDW Publishing has announced they will publish a new ongoing Transformers Comic Book. Don't worry Bay bashers, Michael Bay has nothing to do with it!
"This is the first ongoing 'Transformers' series for IDW, and there's a good reason to do it now," states IDW editor Andy Schmidt. "These stories are too big and too important to contain in even several volumes of miniseries."

Script by Mike Costa with artwork by Don Figueroa, the new title will set the new "Transformers" universe in motion as two miniseries, "Transformers: Bumblebee" and "Transformers: The Last Stand," spin out of its events in December and January.

"This is the best jumping on point for new comics or Transformers fans in years," said Schmidt. "We're embarking on a whole new journey and an exciting new direction."

Below is a page from issue #1!

Look's like this new ongoing series will kick off in November. Be sure to get to your local Comic Book shop (or click on the Buymetoys.com link to the left to purchase) and check it out. Thanks to MTV/Splashpage for providing the image.

Kind of reminds me of the style that is in the Heroes comics. Hope they are better than the GMformers live movies.

LEEE777 - 7/31/2009, 10:19 AM

BmanHall - 7/31/2009, 10:47 AM
these comics are alright...ive been following these comics in between the transformer movies constantly...even the movie adaptations on comic are a bit lacking....no big thing!!
Anil Rickly - 7/31/2009, 10:49 AM
Eh, looks decent. Not good enough to make me want to spend money on it, though.
Phoenix9109 - 7/31/2009, 11:08 AM
lee77@ bmanhall@ im not a bay basher. im a transformers 2 basher. i like bays movies generally, but are you honestly saying that your ok with farting and humping transformers? the rest of the movie aside, that really doesnt bother you in the least?
superdog - 7/31/2009, 11:11 AM
@ GUNSMITH - If you look closely at Optimus in the movies, his wheels split too.

I'd like to learn some more about this before I decide if it's worth purchase. I mean, is it just the recent Transformers from the movies? Are they going to incorporate some "older" robots too? Is this going to lead into the next movie (ie. new robots)?

Could be interesting none-the-less...

BMANHALL @ Lmao! ; D

Superdog @ Come on man, you gotta admit the CGI was mind blowing in ROTF!!! BORIGINS didn't even have that, that one up on that movie already, but i ain't gonna go on about the rest, whew heh heh.
LEEE777 - 7/31/2009, 11:57 AM
I'm gonna go on a limb and say that I loved both Transformer movies, and the Wolverine movie. I'll probably like GI JOE as well. I'm not very shallow when it comes to movies, or maybe I am, and that's the problem. I didn't like Dragonball though.
Tobuttica - 7/31/2009, 12:49 PM
@ superdog: Eh... Yes and no? I could live without the farting and humping, sure. Granted, they added nothing to the movie and WERE very retarded. Not to mention, I was a little confused to why a robot would have the instinct "hump" something anyway. However, the only reason those scenes didn't bother me was because they were only thrown in to make the audience laugh. Well [frick] me, I laughed. Did it need to be in the movie? Of course not, but it didn't ruin it for me.
BmanHall - 7/31/2009, 12:50 PM
Imran: I agree. Trade paperback is generally cheaper anyway.
TheCritic17 - 7/31/2009, 12:51 PM
nineteenth!!!
vonstallin - 7/31/2009, 12:53 PM
Actually, LEEE777, I wasn't all that impressed with Crapine: Borings either. If you try to watch all of the X-men movies and that in order, you'll see that it doesn't even make sence. There was not waterfall in the 1st movie for him to jump from, but there magically was one in Borings... hmmm.
necrosage2005 - 7/31/2009, 1:01 PM
Crapine Borings heh heh, i like that! ; D

Yeah it seemed FOX didn't care about any detail whatsoever and the CGI looked half done, i don't know why ppl defend it, coz if they do FOX will just make BORIGINS 2 instead of a real WOLVIE movie! I only go on about it coz WOLVERINE is one of the favorites, bit like PUNISHER an he got screwed by HOLLYWOOD too by Lionsgate!

Yep, TRADES are the way to go, not that their cheaper but they look good on the bookshelf!
LEEE777 - 7/31/2009, 2:25 PM
off topic:why is the homepage acting weird?

if you click fan fic it takes you to the fan fic archives????

hey i liked wolverine!
NightAvenger4 - 7/31/2009, 3:46 PM
Newavenger4@ I liked it to. Lee77 is just crazy:)

bmanhall@ lee77@ I liked the standard bay stuff in the movie cgi action etc....but the frigen jack black humor was way to much. Talk about not caring, throwing in some stupid juvenile scatological joke just to get a laugh out of the audience is lazy and a sign of someone who doesn't care about the characters or source material. Same thing you guys keep whining on about in wolverine.
superdog - 7/31/2009, 6:08 PM
i would rather them use the Optimus Prime from the movies b/c honestly he is the most badass looking Optimus Prime that has ever been designed.
LaffaTaffa - 8/1/2009, 4:09 AM
I recently read a Transformers / NEW Avengers cross over it was GREAT! Mosty because it was the G1 Transformers
