Adam Brody Reminisces About His Flash Role In The Once Fabled Justice League Movie.

The WB executives at least got something right!
WB canceled this film and blamed it on Australia not giving the movie production the proper tax break. Well if that was true, then the movie would have been scouting out different locations in different countries to film. Since that was total hogwash, the WB has canceled the Justice League movie all together.

Adam Brody who was signed to play the Flash reminisces about putting on the suit, Adam states:

“I put it on once, yeah,” It was such a preliminary version that it wasn’t quite cool yet. It was only kinda nerdy.”

“I did some poses,” he laughed. “It was kinda what you’d think, without certain features; it was the first, rough-draft version.”

As soon as Adam Brody signed on to play the Flash, the role seemed to vanish just as quickly. Does Adam know why?

“I’ll never totally know; I mean, we’re always half in the dark,”. But how close did we come? We were in Australia for some table reads and fittings and what not for a few weeks with George Miller and his camp, and that was a great experience. I don’t regret a second of it. I had a really good time and a lot of positive things came from that.”

Adam chimed in with his thoughts on any future plans for his Justice League movie:

“I don't think they're doing that movie, that incarnation, ever." The world has plenty of superheroes, that’s what I’ll say.”

Maybe the "positive thing" Adam is talking about is getting a role in next month's "Jennifer's Body" opposite Megan Fox. The only other positive thing I think that came from that script read was that the Justice League never got made. Once "Green Lantern" is in front of audiences and they get Superman right, then the WB should give the green light to "Justice League."

Good thing JL got canned. I like Brody, but he's wrong for Flash, like how pretty much everyone who was cast in that movie were wrong for their parts.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 12:23 PM
So true, this movie would have sucked!
Spilox - 9/3/2009, 12:24 PM
that movie would have been horrible, still I wonder if there's some test footage of Brody in the Flash suit or some of the other cast members, that would be kind of interesting to see
Ryden - 9/3/2009, 12:27 PM
Photobucket
markymarc - 9/3/2009, 12:29 PM
The only casting that MIGHT have been ok was Megan Gale for Wonder Woman. She definitely has the look, but I've never seen her act. Everyone else was awful. I have never been so happy to hear that a comic book movie was canceled, as I was then.
Bamf7 - 9/3/2009, 12:29 PM
Dude Sean William Scott for the flash hahahahah
SdProphet - 9/3/2009, 12:29 PM
A JL movie can wait for me. I really want GL to go right. I still think a WW movie can get made though. What's up with that
StrangemannX09 - 9/3/2009, 12:34 PM
Can't see him as Flash

Hey guys!!! Check out my Spider-Man story in FanFic!!!
TheCritic17 - 9/3/2009, 12:35 PM
Chris Evans for Wally West!

Matthew Fox for Barry Allen!
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 12:37 PM
Thank god this never got a green light. Brody is a terrible actor with a predominant lisp which is terrible just to hear when he talks. I cant stand him anyway.

Sean William Scott should not be The Flash. Ryan Reynolds should be the Flash and someone else should be Green Lantern.
LaffaTaffa - 9/3/2009, 12:37 PM
Thank [frick] he never got the FLASH an the JLA movie wasn't done wiv all them JL 90210's!!!

We'll get an Awesome JLA in a few years!!! ; )

Im sure he's a nice guy, but cant see him as BARRY ALLEN lol! Maybe SPEEDY! : D

MATTHHEW FOX = BARRY ALLEN! ; )

LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 12:39 PM
i think someone else should be the flash cuz Ryan is out of the running for flash and he was the best fit for it but so is Chris Evans
flames809 - 9/3/2009, 12:42 PM
I still LOL whenever I hear the name Armie Hammer. That's just a funny name. Armie. LOL.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 12:42 PM
All the actors cast would've been better in a LOSH movie but noooo way a JLA movie!

Very cool article @ JMAN!

ARMIE its HAMMER TIME!!! ; D

BARRY ALLEN =

WALLY WEST =

LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 12:43 PM
marvel has a much better plan, have the superheros star in their own movies then culminate to the big team up.

i hope to dear lord that jl never gets made because it will suck. i dont want to see batman, superman, and gl side by side live action. ever. it would totally suck!!
Duhdaduh - 9/3/2009, 12:45 PM
ya never know this movie could of been good it don't matter if they all were for the same show
flames809 - 9/3/2009, 12:46 PM

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 12:46 PM
lol

who is this guy?
grif - 9/3/2009, 1:03 PM
@ flames

its pretty safe to say that this would have sucked worse than anything we have ever seen...except maybe GI Joe...ZING!
CorndogBurglar - 9/3/2009, 1:04 PM
@ tyler

damn what was he in??? i can't place him, but damn i know i've seen him in something. its on the tip of my tongue, i just can't remember, lol
CorndogBurglar - 9/3/2009, 1:06 PM
wow i really didnt know this movie got as far as casting and costumes... i thought it was a failed idea and nothing further
fotc - 9/3/2009, 1:08 PM
He was Human Torch in Fantastic Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer. But he was one of the highlights of both movies, so don't hold it against him.

Plus, I've seen him in Sunshine and he was great. He can play serious and not always goofy. And he was also great in Push.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:08 PM
oh yeah, wow, that just goes to show how memorable the FF movies were for me, lol. he was the best part of those movies though!@
CorndogBurglar - 9/3/2009, 1:10 PM
I agree. Evans was spot on as Human Torch. You should check out the movie "Sunshine" directed by Danny Boyle. It is a really great movie. It has Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow in Batman Begins) in it as well as Evans.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:12 PM
yeah i think it woulda suck
AvengingAngel1022 - 9/3/2009, 1:12 PM
I agree, Evans was a perfect Human Torch.

I saw Sunshine. Pretty crazy movie.
Did you notice that the tone was a bit like Solaris, but less boring?
Evans was great in that one too.
DarthMulder - 9/3/2009, 1:21 PM
Don't know what Solaris is, sorry :(

I loved every second of Sunshine. The performances were great, the visuals were great, the plot was great, everything was great :)
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:24 PM
Anyway I refuse to beleive WB will never go there again.

Just watch. If Avengers is a hit, JLA won't be far behind it
DarthMulder - 9/3/2009, 1:24 PM
@ tyler

i like cillian murphy! he was awesome in 28 days later, and i liked his scarecrow, also. red eye was just, meh.

@ mulder

never saw solaris or sunshine. i'll check 'em out though! i've actually never heard of sunshine, lol.
CorndogBurglar - 9/3/2009, 1:27 PM
I like Cillian Murphy a lot as well. He's an excellent actor.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:30 PM
EVANS a perfect HUMAN TORCH but a CRAP WALLY WEST!

it'll be like watching his twin brother ffs!

Only serious choice for WALLY is either JENSEN ACKLES (lol)

Or RYAN KWANTEN (From TRUEBLOOD).

; )

Yes REYNOLDS was the best but oh well!
LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 1:34 PM
That literally makes no sense...if he's perfect as Human Torch, it's a natural fit for him to be Wally.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:39 PM
Would have really liked Ryan Reynolds to play Wally West.. But he's the Green Lantern

Kind of good this didn't get made in a way but I would have liked to see it none the less.. When movies don't work out, the studios rarely can the idea, they just get pushed to make a new better one
Imran - 9/3/2009, 1:43 PM
EVANS is a CRAP an lazy choice for FLASH! ; D

He will always be THE HUMAN TORCH to me!

LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 1:44 PM
Just like Johnny Depp is a lazy choice for Dr. Strange.

How is he a crap choice? You have to actually back up your opinions if you want them to be taken seriously.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:47 PM
I really looking forward to seeing him as the Flash. And the Justice League movie.
Bandrews1 - 9/3/2009, 1:47 PM
I hope they set up or hint at a Justice League movie in the next Supes movie.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 1:51 PM
Solaris was a Russian science fiction film from the 1970's. It was one of the worst movies of all time.
But it had this tone of heavy philosophical circumspection of the issues at hand. The soundtrack had some Experimental Industrial in it.

In 2002 Steven Soderberg remade it with George Clooney and that tall babe from Ronin.
The remake was qite a bit better, but that isn't saying much. It was boring and barely worth watching. I wouldn't recommend it.

Sunshine was sort of an underground/sleeper hit where the sun is about to go supernova and a team is sent to fire a giant missile into it that may make it fuel up again. It's a pretty intense movie. There are quite a large number of scientific inacuracies, but I don't care about that. Anyway it had this tone and certain elemnts that reminds one of Solaris or maybe 2001 in that the characters find themselves wrestling with what to make of the profound implications of their predicament. If you like sci fi, give it a shot
DarthMulder - 9/3/2009, 1:57 PM
CHRIS EVANS FOR FLASH JL...TOM WELLING FOR SUPERMAN..
GUNSMITH - 9/3/2009, 2:00 PM

Daniel Craig for friggin' AQUAMAN??? OMG.

ROUTH! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 2:27 PM
Sorry, I'll be off after this comment, I have practice.

Craig looks like he could be a king of Atlantis, he is ripped, and is an incredible actor. I don't see anything wrong with him playing Aquaman.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 2:38 PM
I SAY ROUTH FOR SUPERMAN MOVIE-BUT WELLING FOR JL BECAUSE IF YOU TRY TO INCORPORATE CHRISTIAN BALES BATMAN INTO A JL MOVIE IT MAY NOT BE A GOOD FIT FOR WHEREAS NOLANS BAT IS MORE BASED IN REALISM IT WOULDNT REALLY BLEND WITH FANTASTICAL LARGER THAN LIFE CHARACTERS LIKE SUPERMAN AND SUCH..MAYBE IT WOULD BE BEST TO MAKE THEM SEPERATE ENTITIES
GUNSMITH - 9/3/2009, 3:08 PM
nice one on Ryan Kwanten LEEE, i really think he has hero potential .

who was casted for what part.???
BLITzSTREAK - 9/3/2009, 3:36 PM
anything with adam brody is not just kinda nerdy, it's completely nerdy. he's a geek who would of sucked as the flash. the entire cast blew, and the movie would of sucked.
InFamouslyCool - 9/3/2009, 3:47 PM
Not to mention he represents Hollyweird's obcession with prepubecent zygotes. Roman Catholic priest playthings. No. No. No.

Tyler and LEEE,

Your man-crush on Routh is revolting. He doesn't even have a commanding voice, or presence. And aside from SR, a decent resume. Or talent. Or masculinity.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 4:03 PM
A JL movie will not work trust me guys.
Weiner123 - 9/3/2009, 4:26 PM
Forgive me. I don't trust you, Weiner! I don't know you. How do YOU know it won't work? Pessimists shouldn't work in film. Once upon a time, it was said that LOTR couldn't effectually be on film. W R O N G!
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 4:30 PM
tyler-chris would be a good wally,ryan is hal.get my drift.......hint-barry heh heh
i think brody might of been good!(but there's better)
leee-dude,hate burst your bubble, but matthew fox is way older than routh, bale, reynolds,o'keefe, etc, etc
scott porter for barry!
NightAvenger4 - 9/3/2009, 4:31 PM
Porter would make a good Wally West over Barry Allen, but the current more matured one. Not when he assumes the Flash mantle.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 4:39 PM
Scott porter for the night porter! ; D

Night @ Lol!

PHINES @ ROUTH is the perfect SUPERMAN! WELLING, CAIN okay but not really SUPERMAN man!

ROUTH was told what to do, this time without SINGER he can PUNCH SUPERVILLAINS!

i.e. DOOMSDAY!!!

Screw LEX LUTHOR! : D

EPIC!!!

UNDEAD @ Nice! ; )

WEINER @ No it wouldn't of worked, but there WILL be a JLA where all the solo DC movies lead up to, just like MARVEL'S AVENGERS, WARNER BROS is planning the same for a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie! You didn't know this?

Anyway if WATCHMEN works, AVENGERS and JLA will work easy! ; )

In THE FLASH, BARRY should die three quarters through the movie for WALLY to pick up the mantle! ; )

Never been done in a superhero movie, the lead character dies!
LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 4:43 PM
Phinehas: Really? Just because we support an actor for a role means we have a man crush on him? Makes total sense.

hahahahahaha
Rumblebeast - 9/3/2009, 4:52 PM
LOL on the pics!

Yes, man-crush is the only explanation.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 4:55 PM

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 4:58 PM
@Nightavenger, Chris Evans is 28, Scott Porter is 30, they're almost the same age. Both would be good for Flash but Evans has a better on-screen personality so I choose Chris over Scott. Mathew Fox is a geezer (40). No way would he be right for flash.

Weiner, what are you on? Bad-krack? A JL movie can be made and SHOULD be made but it needs to be the right producer and director.
DDD - 9/3/2009, 4:59 PM
Barry Allen turns into a Kenyan for speed! ROFLOL!!! Turns back into Barry Allen for the cushy midwest forensics job.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 5:00 PM
DDD, I think its possible if he were Barry Allen. That is about Allen's age now in the comics. That is, if they were to start with Allen already in full swing as the Flash and introduce West by the end of the film.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 5:03 PM
Yeah, Bolt for Flash! lol BTW, doesn't BOLT'S name fit him to a T? Ya know...BOLT into action!
DDD - 9/3/2009, 5:04 PM
I don't think West should be in the first JL. So Chris would be alright for the first JL movie. Cramming the whole history of the JL characters into one (the first) movie is a mistake!
DDD - 9/3/2009, 5:09 PM
I like Wally more than Barry. They could mention Barry as being busy, like "I thought we agreed on Allen?" "Busy. This kid's all we got."
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 5:10 PM
I think independent hero films being produced first is the way to go, ala Marvel. This way, it establishes an ethos for each character in a team up. No one ego will over-shadow another as a result. Too early for JLA.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 5:12 PM
Well, if you begin with Wally having already replaced Barry, then it would be right! But Chris Evans can play Wally as well.
DDD - 9/3/2009, 5:13 PM
Introducing each solo member is the only way to do it. JL after all the solo movies.
DDD - 9/3/2009, 5:15 PM
Barry's the hero that Wally isn't. Saved the universe in infinite crisis. Snapped Ebard Thawne's neck to save the day. He is the conduit by which all speedsters recieve the power of the speedforce. He's the Kal El of the Flashes.

Seriously, you have to read the current run of "Flash: Rebirth". It is great! I just finished issue four of six this week.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 5:15 PM
Yes, Barry's back but he was dead for a long time. If you put the JL in the present then Wally would be The Flash in the JL. I mean by the present, just a short while back when Barry was still dead.

Yes, Barry is the Kal-El of the Flashes.
DDD - 9/3/2009, 5:21 PM
If you do "the NOW" present then Barry is alive again and an older man...but Wally is still the Flash in the JL.
DDD - 9/3/2009, 5:26 PM
No. Then its not fair to have Hal either by your logic. Remember how he was Parallax and Spectre (after he died!?)? Why not just do the Silver Age JLA, then resume with the deaths in a serial of films, rather than three-film-tiered story arcs that seem to suck anyway. Infinite films with feature-length serials. That's the way.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 5:32 PM

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 5:43 PM
Why are some people so against a JL movie is it because they know JL will Kick Avenger's/ Mickey Mouse's Ass....

Marvel has a plan alright sell sell sell sell ..... Now garbage shall arise from it ...

Tyler- Sweet Picks ....
thegreek - 9/3/2009, 5:46 PM
LOL Tyler!

JLU TAS is the model by which all DC comic commentary and fan-casting is made, isn't it?
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 5:50 PM
The only casting choice I made from the show is Lumbly...
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 5:54 PM
bond as aqua man. lmbao.. yea, a short old melted wax-faced aqua man.. that'd really rock. hahaha
InFamouslyCool - 9/3/2009, 6:00 PM
I just read much of that show's story development in your suggestions over that of the comics.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:01 PM
Thank the stars they never made this crap!
Bijous - 9/3/2009, 6:03 PM
Phinehas: Such as...

InFamouslyCool: Who would you like to see as Aquaman?

Craig has a regal appearance, is muscular, and is an extremely talented actor. Looks aren't everything when it comes to casting.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 6:06 PM
Nothing off the top of my head. Don't get me wrong. Loved the show too! Especially their Brainiac angle. Just noticed much of its influence in your suggestions.

Not an attack.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:13 PM
In my suggestions on this article? Because I can't see anything besides Lumbly and I guess Wally as Flash but I've always liked Wally.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 6:16 PM
No. Not limited to this article at all. Just over time reading your posts on all different articles or threads pertaining to DCU. I loved JL TAS. Loved the voice casting as well. I have the vids.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:20 PM
I don't think it's a big deal to point out, since they got a lot of things spot on in the show. Plus, I have seen many similar ideas as mine on other sites and this site as well.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 6:23 PM
Yes, and they made a quite a few artistic alterations too!

Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:32 PM
I can't remember many alterations since I haven't seen the show in a little while.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 6:35 PM
Hawkman and Hawkgirl.
Brainiac
Wally West
John Stewart
Just to name a few off the top of my head.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:40 PM
My main point is that the only JLU animated series influences on me that I've seen are a few of my casting choices.

Ron Perlman as Deathstroke.

Dennis Haysbert as Kilowog.

Michael Ironside as Darkseid.

Oded Fehr as Doctor Fate.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 6:45 PM
Yeah, they were great! Except for Oded Fehr, I don't think they would work in live-action.

Granted, most of those characters would be CGI.
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:53 PM
Deathstroke has a mask, they could use a stunt double for the physical part of DS, and have the Perl Man do the voice.

Kilowog I think should be mo-cap.

Darkseid, mo-cap/stunt double as well.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 6:56 PM
Motion capture? For what? They'll look like those cheesy Harry Hausen movies. Why not do camera angles to make the actor look larger?
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 6:58 PM
Kilowog would require an incredible amount of makeup and prosthetics. Mo-cap can look incredible if done by the right people. Silver Surfer, Dr. Manhattan.

Darkseid, you don't need mo-cap, you could use a stunt double in make up and a bit of prosthetics to make him look like Darkseid (mainly the face/head)
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/3/2009, 7:04 PM
I think he would have been a cool flash and the, if the movie was made he would have been cool as the flash, hope he gets the gig if lantern is successful.
xXkryptoniteXx - 9/3/2009, 7:18 PM
You say you think they should see how GL does then do a good Superman then JL?

I disagree. I think a good JL movie done after both GL and The Flash would be better. You could raise interest higher then it has been lately (except Dark Knight) about superhero movies, and I think the only way Hollywood could put Superman in a good movie would be a JL film. I just don't think Hollywood could pull it off.
CBK - 9/3/2009, 7:32 PM
Aquaman needs to be a tall man with a swimmers physique. Somebody mentioned Paul Bettany. He's 6'4" and regal-looking and the right pysique.

AQUAMAN BETTANY
DDD - 9/3/2009, 8:26 PM
Wow. I admit, I resisted that suggestion right off. But after comparing the two pics side by side, and considering Bettany's body of work, I could get behind him! I can't think of anything that he has done that gives him a commanding presence as king of the seas would require. DDD, could you think of any?
Phinehas - 9/3/2009, 9:27 PM
Tyler I never thought of Evans for Flash, but that works great. Since they're rebooting FF the guy's out of a job through no fault of his own, he and chiklis were the best cast in those movies hate to see them go, but Evans is taylor made for Wally.
nerosday - 9/3/2009, 11:19 PM
@Phineas he was quite commanding and demanding and creepy as the bad guy in Firewall with Harrison Ford. By the way that was partly filmed in Washington state and Seattle, where I live.
DDD - 9/4/2009, 12:30 AM
I saw it once when it came out on video. I don't remember it too well. I guess I should watch it again. I remember him on "A Beautiful Mind".
Phinehas - 9/4/2009, 12:33 AM
Another guy who could play Aquaman is Eric Johnson from the Flash Gordon TV series and Smallville. He's 6'2" tall and plays a pretty good leader type. Flash Gordon was not his fault.

ERIC JOHNSON

HOW ABOUT SKARSGARD?
GUNSMITH - 9/4/2009, 1:29 PM
The tyler cast is the worse, is the Ambiguos Gay League.
OSCURO - 9/4/2009, 6:47 PM
You're right @Gunsmith! Alex Skarsgard would be perfect as Aquaman, just perfect!

SKARSDARD-AQUAMAN
DDD - 9/5/2009, 1:18 AM
I want to see more unknown actors for the superhero flicks.

That would save a lot of cash for the first-offs, then they can make more dough on the follow-ons.

As far as a JLA movie, I think DC really needs to build the foundation first of introducing the various characters in single movies first, then drawing them together for a JLA movie later on.

Look, Marvel got the jump on DC in the movie world. It's jsut a simple fact. Hell, DC never even got Superman, their NUMBER ONE RECOGNIZABLE FRANCHISE, correct in movie form. The closest thing has been Superman in the JLA animated series. They are going to have to get Superman right before they can ever put a JLA film together, and still have to get Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman and Green Arrow introduced to the public before pulling them together into a JLA movie that would draw audiences.

If you are completely unable to get Superman produced as a basically watchable movie, how are you going to get the public to buy into the other characters?

Go back to the drawing board with Superman, do at least ONE FECKING WATCHABLE SUPERMAN MOVIE, with a REALLY compelling script and a REALLY compelling supervillain fight (Darkseid, Mongol), THEN start thinking of the others needed to flesh out a JLA movie.

If it took til 2030 to get a really good JLA movie out after laying the foundation with at least five supporting character movies, it would be worth the wait. Or, to compete with MArvel and Avengers, they could just dump out a steaming pile of crap by 2012 and falter.

Marvel has gotten its movies on the right track (well, at least up til now, let's wait and see what Disney doesto muck up the franchise). DC has made TWO on track (Batman Begins, Dark Knight). Let's see DC get with the program.

'Nuff Said.
