Ever since the mention of a Lobo live action film, there has been lot's of speculation regarding who should play the Last Czarnian. Well, this writer has his favorite. After much deliberation, it boils down to this; only a professional wrestler can play the Scourge of the Galaxy. There are many, many actors who could portray the Main Man, in attitude and facial features (think Ron Perlman), but couldn't possibly be in the physical condition (ergo; be ripped) it takes to play the Space-Dolphin Savior. SO, with that being said, who in the professional wrestling world could play the Lobotomizer? Like I stated earlier, I have my favorite, But lets list some of the possibilites.
#1) The Undertaker: Mark Calaway has been in the world of professional wrestling for over 20 years. He has the character traits to portray the Man himself, the presence (being about 6'-11"), the physique to match Lobo's, But it is T.U.'s facial features that miss on this choice. This writer became a fan of one Mr. Simon Bisley's Lobo. so The Undertaker although BIG enough, doesn't have the "look".
#2) Kevin Nash: The Diesel has the same problem as the Undertaker. He has the size, he has the physique, but not the face. Nash is approaching 51, and still has a babyface. Most people would have no problem with this, but in the realm of casting Lobo with a professional wrestler, Nash doesn't fit the bill.
#3)Dave Batista: I have found this selection to be a pretty popular choice among the people I have asked about this matter. He has the size, he has the physique, he has the face, but he doesn't have the acting chops to pull it off. Any wrestling fan has to admit, dude couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.
#4)Mike Knox or Kane or Abyss: Kane was actually in a film called "See No Evil" which got some pretty good reviews from some die-hard fans. This one included. But I cannot see Kane's face painted white with the black, in my opinion, he would look like a gigantic clown. He doesn't have the face either (once again based on Bisley's Lobo). It occurs to me, Abyss wants to be Kane, and same thing, size is there, but not the face. Mike Knox, I haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement call, but I will say this, if the WWE deems it necessary to keep him off television, there is probably a reason.
#5 and my personal favorite to play Lobo in the live-action film..............)
Triple H: Paul Levesque has the physique, the size (6'-4"), and most importantly the face!!! Any self-respecting Lobo fan can admit that Bisley's Lobo is probably the best drawn. (although a case can be made for Martin Emonds in my opinion). The first few pages of Lobo's Back will give anybody wishing to see what I mean a perfect example of why Trips would be great for this role. You can also look at his acting, you cannot be successful in Pro Wrestling if you can't act (or "talk" as it may be). The character of Triple H has the persona, and the comedy it would take to pull this off. And the intensity in which Triple H is portrayed would do nothing but help this particular role of "The Baddest Man in the Galaxy".
So there you have it. In this writer's opinion, Triple H would be the best person to play the greatest comic book bounty hunter there ever was. There can be arguments made about the alternates, but in the end they just don't have that "Lobo" factor. On a side note, most of the opposition for Triple H playing Lobo, point directly to his height. At 6'-4" he would tower over just about any Actors/Actresses who would co-star. And if for some reason, you still can't get past his height, look at what they do for Tom Cruise, can anyone say step-stool?
