Doug has lost his memory and he is being chased by a group of assassins and his beautiful wife Lori is a agent who claims his whole life is a fake and he isn't who he is. After discovering he is Hauser, a former Mars Intelligence agent, Quaid goes to the colony on Mars, in hoping of finding answers. Where he meets a woman named Melina who is working for rebels and the assassins are working for Vilos Cohaggen, the colony's corrupt administrator. What a terrible idea. If people go out and watch the original Recall they'll remember how pointless the remake is.

Bad for business.

I don't know if I'm comfortable with the term 'reboot' for this. It wouldn't really be worth anyone's while to make Total Recall a series.

@rows dower they did make a very good TV series out of it.... total recall 2070 and not to mention the unofficial sequel minority report.

What "Original Movie"?

The Verhoven film was adapted from a book by Philip K Dick and done complete wrong with some hammy actors and shot entirely inside a studio with cheap visuals and props. A cult favourite it may be but it is cheap looking cheese at its most corniest.

The new movie has better actors, better visuals and they don't set it up on Mars just to save on location shooting. It's set on Earth just like the book and even though it still doesn't get the story 100% right, it looks a far superior adaptation than the cheesy Verhoven version.

@Ceejay - i think you will find that the book, as the film with Arnie has a large percentage set on Mars.

Whilst it is a loose adaption, so if the new film and to be honest it looks more like Minority report!!

@union jack the book is actually a short story 20 pages long and no most of it is not on mars if I remember and I could be wrong he went to mars as a kid and that's about it.

Loved thsi a kid, but it never held up very well when watched as an adult really. It has its moments, and there's the nostalgia factor..but it's actually a bit crap!

the first time total recall was released on blu ray was absolute garbage. Horrible picture and audio. But there's a new one being released in America on July 31st. But it's only 10 bucks for a pre-order, so I wonder how good the quality can be.

running man sucked

re release of Total Recall is for promotional purposes , it costs the studio nothing and will probably be a good test to see audience interest ....
its a good idea cuz they will make money with no cost from re release and promote the new version with better special effects
