Since late last month, James Gunn has expressed sadness and a little bit of relief that he's near completing post-production of Guardians of the Galaxy, two years after signing on to helm the space epic adaptation. Today, the director announces via Facebook that he's finally finished and he's now gearing up for the big promotional tour leading up to Guardians' worldwide release. "Well, other than finalizing the 3D, I'm officially wrapped on Guardians of the Galaxy and on my way to the airport to fly to Singapore to begin the press wing of this journey. I saw some amazing VFX shots today to wraps things up. I couldn't be feeling more gratitude and love for all the people who have helped create this film. However the audiences take it, there's not a single dishonest or impure bone in Guardians' cinematic body - and that's a hell of a thing for a spectacle film of this size with so many involved. Best experience of my life. Thank you all."

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

It feels like it was only yesterday when the film was announced at Comic Con back in 2012. When all we had were two pieces of concept art. Now the film is finished and we're only weeks away from finally seeing it.

@Ezio

I really, really hope you end up liking the movie! A friend of mine was about equally hyped about TASM2, and we're still working on her trauma.

But damn, this WILL be good! :D

Ezio - I hope Peyton Reed can give us a good Ant-Man film, I just need a good film! Not a masterpiece, since Edgar Wright is gone *sobs*, but at least a good one. That alone would shut me up and regret that I ever thought Mr Reed would fail us!
