James Gunn Comments On 'Pure Joy' Post-Credits Tag For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Marvel Studios are keeping the post-credits sequence for Guardians of the Galaxy close to their chest until August 1st, but writer/director James Gunn promises it'll be a great deal of fun. Check it out!

The Shawarma scene at the end of the The Avengers was the very first post-credits teaser that Marvel Studios managed to keep a secret up until the superhero blockbuster's worldwide release. While that may had been easy or them to pull off because the scene was filmed just two days after the Hollywood premiere, the Disney-owned company seemingly liked the surprise factor considering they are now doing the same with Guardians of the Galaxy, whose post-credits scene has been detached from press screenings as well as the red carpet premieres. Writer/director James Gunn has said previously that the tag for his much-anticipated space epic adaptation will "add a new element to Marvel," but Total Film got him to talk a little bit more about it. "Oh we have a post-credit sequence for you!" he reassured. "Oh, do we ever! Yes, well we are connected, first of all we are connected…because of certain characters…but we have a post-credit sequence that’s all our own! That in all honestly we have just been doing the past few days so I think it’s going to be a great deal of fun for people." Asked to sum up the scene in one word: "You don’t even want to know what it is! Pure joy, pure joy, that’s two words!" In a seperate interview with ScreenRant, James Gunn further commented on the post-credits scene: "It's directed by me, it will be out and it introduces something really awesome to the Marvel Universe that people will get to see, but not until the movie comes out in theaters, we're saving it." What do you think?

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014

I don't want to be spoiled, CBM, so if one of you puts it in teasers or icons when it's revealed I ain't gonna be happy.

Like, I've had the last five CBM-related mid/post-credits scenes spoiled. The Wolverine, Thor: TDW, Cap: TWS, X-Men: DOFP... I'm sick of getting ruined for me.

It's not gonna be spoiled until July 31st. Well I'm gonna be there at the mid-night premier, that's for sure.

For me, Australian release is a little bit after most regions. And as soon as people know what it is, it'll be teased at in headlines, and slowly become accepted that 'everybody' knows it, which leads people to blatantly state it.

Yes, a post credit scene that deals with GOTG(and/or other Marvek characters) and an end credit scene for Age Of Ultron.

I want to know, but agreed, who ever post any articles related to it, keep any thing that would spoil it out of the damn title, teaser, and icon please. Also anyone on an article unrelated to the spoiler, use spoiler tags. Some people don't want to be spoiled.

I'm convinced it'll be Warlock's hatching coccoon, not just that but him actually coming out of there and the Collector being all like, "Ah, at long [frick]ing last, it's happening! That salesman was bullshitting, the prick, it took way more than a millenium."

I think Groot sacrifices himself to beat Ronan and the post credits is him sprouting again to reform himself.

I hope in the sequel we get Warlock and Moondragon... I like me some bald headed chicks lol. Oh wait, wasn't she a dragon or something recently.

Too bad Fox has Annihilus. Cuz he would be a great villain for part 2!

I initially wanted an Avengers 2 sizzle trailer but I would rather have the team find a crashed Quinjet...even tho Gunn said that's all bullshit and never happening.

I should just write GOTG 2, period.

If Gunn is saying adding a new element to MCU I think it's an Inhumans post credit scene. That is definitely a new element.

The whole movie will be spoiled for me if I don't stay away from the internet for a month... I'm not going to do that so I'll just try to do my best... It still sucks though, one month is way too much!!! I don't why they are doing this!
