Cue the hate comments. Can't wait for this one, seeing Desolation of Smaug in high frame-rate was the highlight of my movie going this year, it was amazing

The first movie was good up to the point when they left the Shire. It's been all down hill from there. Should have been just 2 movies.

I hope with their new Manuka render system the VFX are going to deliver this time. Smaug looked great of course but I fear the massive amount of VFX shots they have to finish is going to be too much... Although, they do have a sheer amount of advantages over the previous two films.

This is the last one, they don't have to focus on more VFX shots for future films (at the moment lol), a lot of the CG characters are design wise already done (Azog, Bolg, Smaug, Beorn, Eagles, Wargs) they only have to move in different places. This is going to be the shortest film which means fewer shots overall. They already could've worked at a few scenes early on when they still had a 2-film plan though I doubt that could be much.

Again, I have high hopes for the Manuka system especially since they have to animate an enormous amount of digi-doubles and a crazy amount of bats. Not to forget that I hope PJ also used a ridiculous amount of extra's for the battle scenes. The more done practical the better, especially with the HFR.

Would be nice if they actually have set ablaze those large Lake-Town sets! Nothing beats real fire and water in HFR!
