How CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Directors Once Responded To CIVIL WAR & FALLEN SON As Subtitles

In an overlooked interview from last month, directors Joe and Anthony Russo respond to suggestions that Captain America 3 will adapt the Civil War storyline, which has since turned out to be true.

A month prior to last night's highly unexpected news that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) will be returning in Captain America 3 to launch the massive Civil War storyline, directors Joe and Anthony Russo took part in an overlooked Hypable interview where they were asked about potential storylines and subtitles; ones that are now seemingly coming to fruition for the 2016 threequel.

Right as the interview began, the interviewer had randomly coughed out "Civil War," which brought nothing but stares and silence from the Russos. “Had you said Fallen Son…” laughed Joe Russo, referring to the storyline that follows the Civil War events. “It’s Fallen Son and we kill him on page 20; It’s crazy, but we’re doing that,” Joe continued. Anthony Russo then added, “Actually he’s dead before the movie starts.”Sure, they may have been joking about Cap's death, but with recent reports that both Civil War and Fallen Son are being tossed around for the official Captain America 3 subtitle, the Russos may have just wanted us to think they were joking. Or just maybe the actual title will be something else entirely. Further during the interview, the duo had vaguely teased what the film would be about (which we now have a better understanding of). “We’ve used this formula throughout our careers, taking very incongruous elements and smashing them into each other,” said Joe Russo. “We’re not gonna get away from some of that tone [from Winter Soldier], we like a very grounded approach to the character. We like long lenses. We like handheld camera work. That stuff’s not going away. But what can we bring that’s fresh to the table from an execution standpoint, from a relationship standpoint, and from a storytelling standpoint? You don’t want them to say, ‘I saw this movie two years ago and it was called The Winter Soldier.'” Surely, that won't be the case. Anyhow, something else the Russos have said previously about Captain America 3 is that Steve Rogers' main mission is to find his old friend Bucky/Winter Soldier, which has caused some to speculate that the brainwashed character will somehow take the place of Spider-Man in the loose Civil War adaptation. After all, Winter Soldier did murder Tony Stark's parents, who were believed to be in a car crash. What do you think?

Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan, with Emily VanCamp and Frank Grillo among others expected to reprise their Captain America: The Winter Soldier roles, the tentatively-titled Captain America 3 is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2016.

@BatManiac

Spider-man had a big part in the comics story-arc, but most likely if spidey wont be in the MCU Bucky will take that spot that spidey had.

I am excited for this movie but I know it will be a watered down version than what us fan boys are expecting.

If I were a betting man, I would bet maybe Daredevil takes Spidey's place, if they even tackle that aspect of the story. So far, Daredevil will be the only super with a secret identity in the MCU.

Still, with all this Cap3 news, can't help but be excited. Even if we're not sure that it's all real.

It has already been proven countless times Cap can not die, the serum which was given to him in this version made him immortal meaning he can escape death and virtually any injury. He doesn't even need his shield. Bullets can't hurt him nothing can. Only his emotions can hurt him if he gets too carried away. He is basically Marvel's Superman. Even if they were supposedly to make him die he would come back at some point in time.

I think people are also forgetting we could see other heroes with secret identities pop up in Agents of Shield. Like Nick Fury said to Tony Stark, "You think your the only superhero in the world?".

"Civil War wasn't just about secret I.Ds it was also about the fact that heroes would have to work for the government rather than working on their own accord."

Exactly. I brought that up so many times yesterday.

The identities were a big part of Civil War, but it was also the fact that they had to register and work at the will of Stark & company. They could focus more on the "indentured servant" angle.
