Jared Leto Is Eyeing 'The Joker' Role In SUICIDE SQUAD!
In rather unexpected news, Oscar-winner Jared Leto is reportedly eyeing a key villain role in the Suicide Squad that could end up being one of Batman's greatest nemeses! Check it out after the jump!
While Jared Leto was reportedly on Marvel Studios' radar for Doctor Strange, The Wrap now reports that Warner Bros. has now set sights on the Academy Award-winner for a key role in its much-hyped Suicide Squad adaptation. What's even more interesting is that the actor could be taking up the mantle of the Joker, who of course was last portrayed by the late Heath Ledger with an Academy Award-winning performance in The Dark Knight. It's further revealed that Ryan Gosling was originally up for the Joker, but he was "unwilling to sign a deal with options for multiple movies." And while the Joker was apparently not included in the original draft for Suicide Squad, director David Ayer is said to be penning a script revision that will feature the Batman villain. Furthermore, The Wrap reports that Tom Hardy, Will Smith and Margot Robbie are still in different stages of talks to headline the Suicide Squad movie, while actor Jesse Eisenberg is still expected to return as Lex Luthor after he debuts as the villain in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that same year. Anyhow, Suicide Squad is scheduled for released on August 5, 2016. What do yout think?
UPDATE: In addition to confirming that Jared Leto is circling the Joker role in Suicide Squad, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed intriguing quotes from an interview conducted just yesterday with the actor. "I do [have my eye on one project.] I am excited about what's happening," he told the trade. "There are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going to be an exciting 2015." Of course, Leto wouldn't offer any details about the said project: "I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure."
