VIDEO: Benedict Cumberbatch Claims 'I Don't Know About' Playing Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE

For the first time since the actor entered final talks with Marvel Studios, Benedict Cumberbatch has been asked about his titular Doctor Strange role. Check out his reaction after the jump!

Despite reportedly being the frontrunner to star in Marvel's Doctor Strange for the past three weeks, Benedict Cumberbatch would not acknowledge the casting while attending the Hollywood Film Awards last night. In an effort to finally get confirmation, a CBS reporter had slyly congratulated the English actor on landing the Sorcerer Supreme role, to which Cumberbatch quickly replied, "I don't know about that; do you know about that?" Even after the reporter insisted knowing that the Star Trek Into Darkness star will be Doctor Strange, Benedict diverted: "No, no, check your notes." Well played Mr. Cumberbatch, well played. Anyhow, watch the interview at the 1:00 mark below, and expect Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson, to be released on November 6, 2016.

Oh my God, that's beautiful. I think this campaign is probably the second-most important thing to happen to this site. The first is of course: Grif's first banning.

i hope that it is real. I think that he ruin any Dr Strange film. He's good in some things but proved that he can't handle fantacy like Star Trek Into Darkness.

Was never big on this guy until I saw him play Sherlock on the BBC.

Best character going on English language TV right now. Bar none.

@batz11 and everyone else concerned about my uncle Yossarian:

You guys keep talking about Yoss like he's dead or something. He's not. I can tell ya how to get ahold of him if you like. I assure you he's all well, still working at Lawrence Journal-World. He told me about this site a few weeks ago, so I joined. He used my tablet to read some things here and he told me about some of you too. I assure you he is doing good.

@Monkey

Star Trek: Into Darkness had plenty of problems, the biggest being that it was essentially a reboot of a far better film, Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, but Benedict Cumberbatch was pretty good and did well considering the thankless role he played.

@monkey you're dumb. STAR TREK INTO DARKNESSwas a shitty film with a shitty script which gave him little to work with and he still was better than anyone in that film

Cumberbatch is pretty much Doctor Strange at this point; all we really need now is the announcement. The guy will nail the role as Strange and he'll fit right in with Marvel's ever-growing arsenal of trolls.

Star Trek Into Darkness was twice as shitty as Iron Man 3 but Ben Kingsley's still a great actor, so dissing Cumberbatch over Star Trek is - wait for it - utterly illogical.
