Taron Egerton Responds To X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Rumor He's Testing For 'Young Cyclops'
Did Taron Egerton pretty much confirm that he's in the mix for the young iteration of Scott Summers in X-Men: Apocalypse? Find out how the Kingsman: The Secret Service star responds after the jump
Just hours after it was reported that Taron Egerton is one of the three contenders for the role of Scott Summers aka Cyclops in next year's X-Men: Apocalypse, the Welsh actor had attended a special screening of Kingsman: The Secret Service and afterwards a Q&A, during which he was asked about the casting rumor. "I really can't comment on the Cyclops thing," said Egerten after reassuring that his next film is Eddie The Eagle with Huge Jackman. "I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that [rumor] came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says that's very fun. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops. So, I don't know." Fair enough! The other two actors said to be testing for Cyclops are Jamie Blackley and Tye Sheridan, of which the latter is reportedly the frontrunner. So, that could very well be why Egerton is keeping mum. What do you think?
As previously reported, actresses Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan are said to be contenders for young Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, while Alexandra Shipp and Zendaya Coleman are both up for young Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Whoever nabs the roles, they'll join Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, and Oscar Isaac. X-Men: Apocalypse is directed by Bryan Singer, and hits theaters on May 27, 2016. Anyhow, special thanks to CBM's Reasonnnn for giving us a heads up & for being the "chap" who asked Taron Egerton about the rumor below!
