Sebastian Stan Has 'No Idea' About His 'Winter Soldier' Return In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Though the sequel to Captain America: The Winter Soldier is said to focus heavily on Steve Rogers' relationship with Bucky Barnes, actor Sebastian Stan is claiming he's yet to read a script. Check it out

While Anthony Mackie has been out and about teasing the latest Captain America: Civil War script, Sebastian Stan, meanwhile,  has seemingly been left in the dark about his confirmed return as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier. During an interview with Variety, the Romanian actor was asked if he had read the script yet, to which he replied: "No... I mean this–I have no idea what’s happening." Stan later added that he has no idea if he'll appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron or the Infinity War movies, and doesn't know how many more Marvel movies he will be in. "That’s the most boring answer, but literally the only answer I know. It’s out of my control," he said. When asked if the Captain America franchise has changed his life, Sebastian Stan was a bit more chatty. "Credit is due where credit is due–2014 was a very different year for me because of The Winter Soldier," he admitted. "The awareness of me in terms of the industry has been very different. It’s granted me more opportunity to be able to search for the projects I want to be involved in, and work with the kind of filmmakers I’m really interested in working with. Bryan Buckley, to me, I feel like he’s going to be someone you’re going to know for a long time time. I was like, 'Wow, I got the chance to work this guy before everyone is going to want to work with him.'"

While he's probably just keeping mum to avoid those "Marvel snipers," it is  interesting that Sebastian Stan seems to know next to nothing about Captain America: Civil War. Especially since Cap's unresolved relationship with Bucky is said to be a big piece of the Marvel threequel's puzzle. It's also worth mentioning that screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently revealed that they are currently on their fourth draft for Civil War. However, with filming scheduled to start in three months, that should be enough time to get Stan up to speed. What do you think?

Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie & Daniel Brühl, with appearances by Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson expected. The film opens May 6, 2016

@Pasto LOL at least let DCMF clean this up and include the whole interview before calling for the interviewer's job!

Anyways, just from this, it seems like Stan literally can't say anything because of those pesky Marvel snipers. That'll always make for a boring interview.

I'll say this though, I'm dying to know his answer for this.

I want to see someone interview these actors and not allow their bullshit responses. Someone that would respond "stop dodging around the question. Either answer it or don't."

@Pasto - "I want to see someone interview these actors and not allow their bullshit responses"

Then it'd be a waste of time to interview 99% of actors promoting their upcoming movies because they just wouldn't answer the question. hahahaha

@ImKennyPowers
Not entirely true. There are actually some actors and actresses that aren't asshats and will in fact answer a question instead of being a dick about it and dancing around the question.

@Pasto

You get my point though, these promotional tours and interviews are strategically coordinated between the studio's PR dept. and the cast. On talk shows like Conan and Fallon, the questions and discussions are predetermined with what is and is not off-limits to talk about. While interviews have different formats so you get these kinds of answers because actors go into them knowing what they can or can not say/talk about.

With CBM's especially, the studios are EXTREMELY guarded about production because they know when they adapting their films from source material the smallest insight or leak can reveal secrets/spoilers about the film.

It's why cast/crew are required to sign confidentiality & non-disclosure contracts.

Like that young actress who was removed from consideration for a role because she posted a picture on social media of her at Marvel headquarters.

These were posted around the set of Star Wars Episode 7:

This worries me....Winter Soldier as a character should be a huge part of this universe, taking into consideration how many characters Marvel ISN'T allowed to use. The actor playing him has no idea what's going on beyond just the one movie the character was in, doesn't that seem strange? Marvel is keeping him in the dark? Heck, they've had the MCU planned for years now, why all of a sudden is everything up in the air?

"Well it doesn't matter because Ironman will take up most of the screen time in this "Capitan America" sequel."

I just got chills by how much that resembles the exact same sentiment that fans had towards Batman v Superman. Is it possible that CBM.com is just a never-ending treadmill where we just recycle old arguments again and again and again?

Yep.
