Intriguing New SUICIDE SQUAD Casting And Character Rumors
Make the jump and check out some new potential Suicide Squad details (and spoilers) in terms of the actors being courted for a few surprising roles in the movie, as well as some info about the Joker
Cameras don't start rolling for Suicide Squad until April, but it seems there are already more plausible rumors out and about than there is concrete information, which is partly due to casting for the DC Comics adaptation still being underway. Nonetheless, the latest "exclusive rumors" are coming from Joblo, whose sources have revealed plausible details regarding certain supporting characters that might be appearing in the film, as well as the multiple actors that Warner Bros. and director David Ayer might be pursuing. For starters, the search for Tom Hardy's replacement as Rick Flag is seemingly still underway, but the studio is also looking to cast his father, Rick Flag Sr., who was previously rumored to appear in the movie. Joblo reckons that veteran actors Ed Harris and Max Martini are currently "under consideration" for that part while Karl Urban is now another contender for Rick Flag Jr. The site acknowledges that Urban's recently rumored role in Aquaman opposite Jason Momoa "would depend on which script they use for that film [but] his name is still in the running for Flag." Beyond this point, there're potential spoilers, so you've been warned!
Furthermore, Joblo reveals that the supervillain known as The Thinker will also be in Suicide Squad, even though Australian actor Geoffrey Rush has passed on the role. And while past rumors said that actor Gary Sinise was being looked at to play General Eiling in the movie, it seems the role is actually for General Sam Lane, who, of course, is Lois Lane's father in the comics. This casting would evidently showcase another big connection to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in which Amy Adams is portraying Lois. Anyhow, moving onto things you don't already know, the report further reveals that, yes, Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke is in Suicide Squad too. Regarding who could end up portraying the supervillain, Joe Manganiello is supposedly the top contender with Jason Clark also under consideration. Apparently Wilson will be a "hired assassin that is competing with the Suicide Squad," as opposed to a bodyguard or a member of the titular supervillain team.
That about wraps up Joblo's "exclusive rumors" in terms of casting for the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad, but the site goes on to reveal additional info regarding Jared Leto's the Joker and how the supervillain might already have an established relationship with Ben Affleck's Batman. "The Joker is scarred all over his body because of his battles with Batman, he plays mind games with people and twists [their] minds, [and] everyone is afraid of him." Finally, the mysterious Enchantress, played by Cara Delevingne, is said to be "really powerful and instrumental in the film’s prison riot finale" which is being described as "Crazy" in a good way. For the full report, which might explain the Caped Crusader's cameo, head over to Joblo. Though it's all unconfirmed, what do you think?
Directed David Ayer from his screenplay, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Tom Hardy (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), with Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Jessie Eisenberg (Lex Luther). The film opens August 5, 2016!
