Kevin Feige Says 'The Wasp' Has Big Part In A PHASE 3 Movie; Is It AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR?
While spoiling a certain Ant-Man scene, Marvel Studios' president of production has dropped some intriguing hints regarding the Wasp and her future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check it out!
As many of you have seen now that Ant-Man is finally playing in theaters, the mid-credits scene for the movie features Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) giving Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) her own costume to ultimately take up her late mother Janet Van Dyne's mantle as the Wasp. While this would obviously suggest the winged superheroine will be appearing full-fledged in an upcoming movie, Marvel Studios' president/ producer Kevin Feige now hints when and where that will be.
“It’s going to be certainly a part of our Phase 3; some of the films we've announced in Phase 3 " revealed Kevin Feige when Yahoo had asked when we'll see Lilly's Wasp on-screen. "It is going to be a very important moment [in Ant-Man], and — spoiler alert! — we see that suit for the first time, and her father now is finally giving it to her and realizes that he can’t hold her back from what is essentially her destiny. It's gonna be a very big part of one of our upcoming films.”
Notice that Kevin Feige says “some” of the Phase 3 movies before later saying just “one.” We know that Paul Rudd is reprising his Ant-Man role as Scott Lang in Marvel Studios' next cinematic outing, Captain America: Civil War. And given that movie is already full of superheroes, and the Wasp would seem a little out of place in the other Phase 3 movies, we are likely to see Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne suit up with Earth's Mightiest Heroes against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War - Part I and/or Part II, which open May 4, 2018, and May 3, 2019, respectively. What do you think?
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, Wood Harris John Slattery and Gregg Turkington with multi-hyphenate T.I., and the film opens July 17, 2015
