Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-Men: Apocalypse, opening in theaters everywhere May 27, 2016. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

I can already see a few hilarious commercials coming out of this. However, the X-Men should be able to market themselves, I mean there's so much you can do in regards to marketing for X-Men it's ridiculous. I'm cool with Mystique helping lead the new team of mutants and etc since Apocalypse brings forth an alliance from all sides of the Mutant race, I just hope it isn't too "pro-mystique" I still want her to be the snake she really is. HEr working alongside Apocalypse would've been the easiest route to go into similar to the 90's cartoon. But as Beast said "Maybe this is just who she is?" (in regards to her dark nature).

Wouldn't worry too much about a marketing blurb from m&M's its not going to be a official synopsis. Chances are high that the numpties at Mars? Probably don't know who any other actor in the film is.

So I love how this franchise just made up their own xmen based on the people they wanted to star in this movie... Because you know Mystique was always teaching and helping the Xmen right? Or was that Emma Frost? You know the hot chick from First Class they just decided to get rid of after the end credits show Magneto breaking her out.
I just hope this ends the current run of Xmen and they can do a good rebooted Xmen in 3-5 years hopefully with a director and writer who want to bring the real xmen comics to life.

I'm still baffled at the amount of focus they are putting on Mystique. Just because she's played by Jennifer Lawrence. :\

@Crabnado "that's the plot to Blade Trinity."
Just for fun lets replace the words...

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. DRAKE, the first and most powerful VAMPIRE from Marvel's BLADE universe, amassed the powers of many other VAMPIRES, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful VAMPIRES, including a disheartened DANICA TALOS (Parker Posey), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, BLADE (Wesley Snipes) with the help of Abigail Whistler (Jessica Biel) must lead a team of young NIGHTSTALKERS to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Yup.. BLADE TRINITY :)

Sigh.

Don't get me wrong, For the most part I've really enjoyed the new X-Men films. Solid cast, decent stories. But I really can't fathom this whole Mystique as an anti-hero thing. In first class it made sense, given the retcon they did with her and Charles growing up together. That i can get behind. But I really did not enjoy her in DOFP. Mystique isn't conflicted or plagued by low self confidence. She is confident, cunning, and a total badass. J-Law is a great actress and she's played the role well given what's been written for her. This is just a case of the character being completely miswritten. Rebecca Romjin's eclipses this version by a mile. It's like they're not even the same character.
