According to several sources now, Chris Evans has accepted the role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

UPDATE 2:Hollywood Deadline is verifying the casting news.

"Marvel Studios is moving toward a deal with Chris Evans to star in The Captain America movie. This was a world class bake-off, though I heard that Channing Tatum and Garret Hedlund passed. Now it’s down to negotiating, where Marvel plays hard."



UPDATE:Variety is now confirming that Chris Evans has accepted the role and will be playing Captain America.

"Chris Evans will don the star-spangled superhero suit to play Captain America for Marvel Entertainment. Deal calls for Evans to star in at least three "Captain America" movies, as well as "The Avengers," which will assemble Iron Man, Thor and the Incredible Hulk in one pic."



According to THR once again, Chris Evans has accepted the role of Captain America.

Sources tell us the actor has not only accepted Marvel's offer, first detailed on Friday, but that the dealmaking moved so fast it's now all about dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

Of course, Marvel & Chris Evans's representatives still aren't commenting. Chris apparently was offered the role Friday, and took the weekend to decide. With this still not being anything confirmed, it's pretty obvious he could be Our new Captain America.

I still think Nathan Fillion should have been Green Lantern. I don't hate the idea of Ryan Reynolds, but I think Nathan would have been brilliant. Oh ya Cap. Well it could be worse. I hope Chris nails it.

I know this is only a rumor but still, I hope that he isn't cast as cap. He is better then quite a few of the other people auditioning, but I just don't believe he is the best possible person for the role. I don't want to have to settle for the person Marvel picks. I just want the best possible person for the part.

@ leee. we'll i would have rather seen someone else indeed as cap. but IF it is evans. i dont mind/care anymore. he'll probably be with a mask for more then half of the movie. and when i'm watching it i'll be forgetting that he played johnny storm cause F4 movies sucked bigg times (he was even the most descent of the four). And btw he aint that bad of an actor either. so...

It doesn't even matter how many times you guys say no, you WILL see this film. That includes you Lee. You will see this. I guarantee it.

Who the f*ck would you rather have? Taters from GI Blow, a fairy princess Klutz from the Twilight films, or Evans? I'm just thankful we (hopefully) didn't get any of those clowns, and thankful that we (hopefully) got someone who actually can act in the role (cough, and doesn't look like a date rapist or wannabe gangster).

[frick]in' ignorant. You should never play two characters in the same universe. I didn't like him as Johnny and I HATE him as Cap. They should have gotten an unknown. A very unknown. Evens played in 2 Fantastic Four movies that play on FX constantly and he was in Push which was a hero film in a sense. [frick]in' gay gay gay
