Movie Adaption for DC's The "Flash" Nearing Greenlight!

Along with announcing Sherlock Holmes sequel Start period & when to expect Superman's return, Warner Bros. chairman announces that a "Flash" movie, with DC Entertainment is getting closer to getting the Go-Ahead. Check it Out!

DC Entertainment, distributed by Warner Bros., has a lot on their plate with Green Lantern currently filming, Third Untitled Batman movie scripting, a Superman: Man of Steel reboot expected for 2012 holiday season, and Jonah Hex hitting theaters in a few weeks.

Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer says that DC Comics characters are key parts of Warner's future, and along with announcing a mid-December 2011 release for the Sherlock Holmes sequel, he includes that

they are getting close to giving the go-ahead for a movie about the Scarlet Speedster, DC Comics superhero "Flash."

Barry Meyer includes that films featuring Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Mad magazine characters are also in development, as mentioned before. Past rumors for the speedster, say that writer/producer Greg Berlanti is strongly being considered to direct the movie adaption.

DCMF:: I'm most curios at how they plan on making this movie interesting, more than who they actually cast. Those unfamiliar with Flash, several other individuals in the DC Universe, have used the name, and these have lived either on other parallel worlds, or in the future. Jay Garrick, Barry Allen and Wally West are the best-known exemplars of the identity. And with each character claiming the identity has had different origins concluding in gaining super strengths & speed(obviously).

Casting being one of the important things to make this film work, I personally felt Ryan Reynolds, whose playing Hal Jordan(Green Lantern), would make a greater Flash. What do you think?

Sherlock Holmes was quite solid IMO, I'd be down for a sequel. If it means more RDJ dressing up as a hobo then I'm totally in :)

And hellz yeah to Flash, he's been a long time coming. But, it's a little hard to take seriously after all the on-again's and off-again's with the movie.

Barry for several films, including a JLA movie, and then Wally comes in. And for Barry, Patrick Wilson. Does anyone find it funny that the guy who's talking about this is named Barry, too? Oh the irony :P

The first CB I ever got was one of the yearly issues where Superman and the Flash would race. Remember those?

I never thought the Flash stood a chance against the Man of Steel...and honestly I don't think a Flash movie would be able to compete with Batman, X-Men (as terrible as they are), IronMan, or an Avengers movie.

I smell another Phantom in the making......

The Flash would make a great movie, the 90s era tv series was great. However, I would much rather see an Aquaman movie next!!

This is great news, since Flash was the first live action that came close to decent... in my opinion. I wouldn't mind seeing Jay Garrick, but would also be happy with Barry Allen.

captquirk @ I'd rather see JAY GARRICK in a JSA movie, (bit like the Watchmen) an have BARRY in this one, don't think JAY on his own would work or be too popular.

Flash has great potential. Personally I'd like to see Wally West, with Jay Garrick as his mentor

Actually, the more I think about it, Cooper WOULD be a great Flash... He's peaking right now and his comedy and sarcasm is in the right spot in this modern era of hollywood to make the Flash work. Like a west coast RDJ. Agreed.

I hope Marvel's Submariner comes out before DC's Aquaman. I'd hate to think general audiences thinking Marvel is following DC....yikes!!

Great article DCMF! :)

I know bugger all about the Flash (and who can really be bothered when there's been so many of them, lol? Stuff like that is why I never got into DC!) but a movie would be great! Patrick Wilson was always my top choice...not really sure why! :P

MAKE MINE MARVEL!!!

Mark-Paul Gosselaar "Raising The Bar", "Saved by the Bell" can make an awesome playing "The Fastest Man Aliv e" running across america with his super-speed powers. that ables him to run. I like to see Mark play The Flash.

I agree, I could have seen Ryan Reynolds as Flash more than I could as GL. Looks like DC wants to compete with Marvel and make a Justice League movie eventually.

And please dont cast Michael Cera, I know that was an April Fool joke but still

Leee777, you and me think alike. I'd love to see a JSA movie, but apparently it is too much for DC to contemplate, let alone produce a good movie with more than one hero.

Oh for a younger BARRY =

Yeah I'm still not finished on the SPEED FORCE cast lol!

(Months i tell ya, stuck on one! : P)

Imagine the movie posters with SPEEDMAN on them!

Touch and great actor too!
