FOX apparently decided to pursue younger actors to fill the role of major mutants for their upcoming X-Men prequel. One of those characters being Henry McCoy, "Beast", forced Ben Walker, who was signed to play McCoy, to ignore FOX and sign on to reprise his starring role on Broadway in “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.”

Now Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Fox is setting English actor, Nicholas Hoult for the role of Beast in the Matthew Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class.

Nicholas Hoult is apparently best known for his role as Marcus Brewer in the 2002 film "About a Boy" and as Tony Stonem in the E4 television series, Skins. And the 20 year old recently appeared in Louis Leterrier's "Clash Of The Titans" remake as Eusebios.

Repped by UTA and UK-based Independent Talent Group, Hoult joins James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Alice Eve (Emma Frost). With production expected to begin soon, there are many "First Class" mutant roles to fill.

DCMF - A little familiar with Hoult's work, to me hes never come off as a total badass, which I assume "Beast" is expected to be, when the prequel hits theaters next year June 3rd. What do you think?
