It was first reported by Latino Review, that unknown actor Caleb Landry Jones is the top contender to bag the role of Sean Cassidy aka BANSHEE in the mutant prequel. And apparently it turned out to be true.

Recently announced with English actor Nicholas Hoult portraying "Beast" in 20th Century Fox's "X-Men: First Class, Variety now reports that Caleb Landry Jones WILL play the Banshee in the film. Jones, 20 years old, appeared in 'No Country for Old Men' as a minor role and can be seen in the upcoming "Last Exorcism" & in David Fincher's "The Social Network".

With those unfamiliar with the character, Banshee is an Irish mutant, whom possesses a "sonic scream," capable of harming enemies’ auditory systems and causing physical vibrations. He is named after the banshee, a legendary ghost from Irish mythology, said to possess a powerful cry, although the banshee spirit is invariably female. And while appearing in "First Class" marks the mutant's first big screen appearance, there was a small reference to the Banshee in 'X-Men 2', with his name listed on a list of names 'Mystique' scrolls through on Stryker's computer while looking for Magneto's file.

Anyhow, Caleb Landry Jones joins the roster that so far includes James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast). And in a story that focuses on Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as young men, when discovering their powers for the first time, production begins soon, hitting theaters June 3rd next year.

Another interesting casting choice, this might not suck after all but I'm not going to let my guard down just yet.

Shaman: He wasn't part of the team but Banshee did have some interaction with the original X-Men. I believe he first appeared in issue 28 or somewhere thereabouts. Banshee is one of the coolest X-Men IMO. :)

Hawks- IMO too :)) To be perfectly honest, i actually JIZZED (there, i said it dela) at the mere sight of Banshee's sonic scream in the crappy Generation X tv movie ;P

Not sure who they are, but I hope to hell they don't use Banshee's original costume. Tha has got to be one of the worst out there.

I doubt anyone will be wearing yellow spandex if Producer Bryan Singer has anything to say about it. Think back to that little joke in X1.

I liked his first outfit. His, The Visions and Iron Fist' I always thought were very similar. I don't know this kid that got the part but he looks younger than anyone else that has been cast. Banshee is much older than the rest of the group.

I thought he had a cameo in Borgins... Wasn't he the kid with that metal plate thingy covering his mouth? Anyhoo... He looks the part, but the question is: Can he act?

I think Caleb is the first America born actor to join the cast.

@JoshW Thanx. When I was out yesterday, I searched almost everywhere, but since I usually download comics, I don't have a clue where to get them form. Where do you get your comics from?

@blee- haha i'm still unsure about this movie but the more people i see who are cast in it i think of wow a bunch of teeny weenie kids also.

to be honest everyone i was hoping the xmen would have been like late teen early 20's. not a bunch of high school kids still.

DCMF: Living in the UK (and nowhere near a comic book store like Forbidden Planet) I get mine through a privately owned comic book store on a weekly basis via the post! To be honest, the best place to find graphic novels like "Coming Home" would be Amazon, eBay or Play.com! :)

Lord, this cast is reminding me a lot more of the epic fail that was "Teen Trek".

If we're going to go this direction with things, why not just do a live-action version of X-Men Evolution?

He's a kid!! WTF?!!! Banshee was a "former" Interpol agent when he first met the teenage X-Men. The actor should be, at minimum, 30 years old! GEEEZUS...Vaughn is really FRICKING this film. Can he not get one character right?

NICE! BANSHEE IS COOL!

I am considering THIS movie a fresh start to the STALE
x-men franchise..But PLEASE don't KILL ANYONE!

BANSHEE died in X-Men: Deadly Genesis..what a shame.

Ha, all the American X-men are being played by Brits, the Canadians by Australians and the UK guys by Americans...Hope it all works out!

Hopefully his brother Black Tom will be in it too, that could lead into a proper appearance by the Juggernaut!

MTLad: Teen Trek was one of the most poorly plotted and poorly shot movies I ever saw. Our villain knows that something Spock does causes his world to be destroyed. He winds up going back in time. There are two logical courses of action at this point: track down the much younger Spock and kill him then, or go to his people, convince them of the danger to come and either have their top scientists devise a solution to the problem, or relocate everyone before the planet is destroyed. So what does he do? Gets a ship to attack Spock where he'll be in twenty years and... waits for him. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The cast all acts way out of character, especially Kirk, Uhuru, and Spock. The action scenes are all shot in extreme and murky closeup with the camera often shaking around, making things even harder to follow. The only unflawed scene in the whole thing was the one with young Spock. THAT is why I call it an epic fail.

And that's the ten second version. I could go into much, much more detail, but I don't want to hijack this thread.

Portsea: Someone besides me remembers that awful made-for-TV Generation X movie? I believe you're right about Banshee and Emma appearing together in that.

Banshee was a secret agent before he joined the X-men. The only agency I could see this kid coming from might be the one from Phineas and Ferb. Put glasses on him and he kinda looks like Carl.....
