Though the DVD & Blu-ray release of the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 blockbuster, isn't until next week, September 28th; a good friend RealIrOnMaN of Spidermedia, has come in contact with the blu-ray and it's glorious features.

Up front admiring the sequel's DVD menu, compared to the original film's bland menu, he says one feature consists of director Jon Favreau discussing the near-ending scene with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury & Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark; discussing none other than the Avenger initiative, described as "geek heaven".

"Yeah, that's from "The Incredible Hulk" (news report on S.H.I.E.L.D monitor), which means it took place before "TIH". If you look you see the the crater on the other monitor, that's the "Thor" thing. That's where the hammer was recovered. This is just a geek heaven here.

And if you think that anything on this monitors is not something we (in Marvel) didn't talk about for hours - you are crazy! And if you look on that one, see there is a map up there, so... if you look at those maps, each one of those locations corresponds to something in the Marvel Universe. I'm not supposed to say that.

And if you look on each one, and I know what they mean, but I'm not gonna say it, but I'm gonna say this: Two of them relate to "The First Avenger: Captain America", One of them relates to "Thor", and the one in Africa relates to Black Panther."

With there being many shots of the maps in the scene, see if you can spot them by clicking the screencaps below.

""Yeah, that's from "The Incredible Hulk" (news report on S.H.I.E.L.D monitor), which means it took place before "TIH"."

Well, that was pretty clear. At the end of Incredible Hulk, he said they were putting together a team, while he didn't become a part of the Avengers Initiative until the end of Iron Man 2.

Time is really going to pass by slowly in these movies.I believe they said 6 months have passed since Iron Man 1, and The Incredible Hulk and Thor take place around the same time as Iron Man 2.I would imagine Avengers takes place not long after. So between Iron Man in 2008 and The Avengers in 2012, less than a year would have passed. It's a good thing they don't have any small children in these movies.

I really don't care for 9 characters being introduced in 1 movie. Iron Man 3 better kick ass.

Nice article.

Although I disagree that the original movie's DVD was bland. The representation of Iron Man is so perfect that I left it running (sound off of course) for long periods. What a lovely piece of animated art that is.

Provided Black Panther winds up in the Avengers and the part is well written, Djimon Hounsou as King Tchalla would be dramatic gold! And the action would be blast, too.

If you connect the locations with a single line, then stare at it for several minutes, you will begin to see that you are a loser.

A dot on a map is a reference to Black Panther...whoopty doo!

That's like saying Bruce Wayne is referencing Superman in Batman Forever when he tells Dick "the circus is halfway to Metropolis by now." Big F---ing deal.
panther1
panther1 - 9/19/2010, 9:20 PM
a Cameo in the Avengers could be a start but the Panther needs to be a Full on movie Hounsou could work though i believe Chiwetel Ejiofor could do just as good if not better as Tchalla,The African American as well as the African people need to see a strong smrat balck hero thats not half evil!

Panther before Powerman!

@ Intruder & CharlieValentine - I think it looks like it's in Norway. Doesn't Donald Blake go on a holiday there in the comics or something like that?
