RUMOR: Natalie Dormer Portraying "Madame Hydra" in the Captain America Movie

Based purely on speculation, Marvel may have secretly cast the role of Viper, Madame Hydra, in the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger movie. Check it Out!

Marvel Studios' much-anticipated Captain America movie has quite a number of characters included from the comics, with a fine ensemble at their portrayal. And though the Joe Johnston-directed film has a couple of months of filming to go, another role in the film may have been discovered.

The ever doubtful Internet Movie Database (IMDB) has English actress Natalie Dormer, known for her roles in Casanova & Showtime series The Tudors, listed as "Private Lorraine" on The First Avenger's profile.

Let me reiterate that this rumor is based purely from speculation. But many U.K. locals & I believe Dormer is actually playing the role of Viper, formerly known as Madame Hydra. And that her "Private Lorraine" identity is an alias in the film, or simply a cover-up from the studio.

And aside from looking similar to one of many takes of the character (pictured right), Dormer is quite talented, enjoys fencing as a sport, and is a member of the London Fencing Academy. So if Madame Hydra were to see any action, a physical encounter with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) perhaps, don't let Ms. Dormer's dainty looks fool you.

At one point in the "Captain America" comics, where she first appeared, Madame Hydra was found as a charming tendency from Red Skull, who then pursued a relationship with her for a while. That relationship, however soon ended when the Skull found out Viper was using his resources to finance massacres with no apparent financial benefit for either of them.

So evidently, Madame Hydra's role in The First Avenger could very well be the woman behind "the man", Johann Shmidt aliased Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), and his own branch of the German Army, HYDRA.

As I mentioned before, the fact there are many other characters in the film to focus on, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) most importantly, I could be looking into things too much. If true however, what do you think?

Interesting find DCMF! She most definitely looks the part and it would be good for HYDRA to have it's own leader rather than just the Red Skull...I'm still hoping for Master Man as well though! :P

Thanks Josh. It seems like they could easily include Master Man, powerless though. But that wouldn't be Master man then, haha.

Still, I would love to see this whole Red Skull/Madame Hydra relationship thing on screen.

Good find, Freshman! She looks the part. I hope they go with that as a "whoa" moment, like shes Private Lorraine for most of the beginning, then they finally tell us shes Viper towards the middle of the movie.

I don't think so.

Sarah Jayne Dunn... Olivia Munn... Kate Mara. Usually a pretty girl in a CBM is just a pretty girl in a CBM.

Check out my Dark Knight Returns fan cast.

You know, for some reason and after watching the CA videogame shots... the "look" that the german/nazis will take remember me the "LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN" movie, and the atmosphere of the movie as well.

The Blonde Madame Hydra in the image at the top is an alternate earth Susan Storm (from a story run in Exiles). I don't think that's the proper character reference to use.

Three things...1. Is private loraine a comic character? 2. Did they have female privates back in the 40s? 3. Wouldn't it be private (last name) instead of private loraine?
