In less than 24 hours, we all shall posses a tease of the power of THOR on our hardrive in crisp High Definition. Learning this yesterday, many have wondered if the first official trailer would be enclosed with the same footage shown at the San Diego Comic-Con, which leaked six months ago. Well
Paul Nicholasi knows the answer, whose theater received the 3D print of the much-anticipated
THOR teaser yesterday. He says it seems logical that the new Thor 3D trailer will be tacked to the front of Narnia, especially since that film is in 3D as well. In his vague description, he says:
UPDATE: Big Shiny Robot has outed their more-detailed description of the trailer. While they reiterate the description further down, they also highlight some new stuff.
Hey guys, I just happened to wander into a theater that was showing both the new Transformers and Thor trailers. I wasn’t nearly as hot as some have been on the Transformers teaser. Maybe I’ve just seen too many Robots-in-Disguise already. But the Thor trailer (which is showing up with the new drama The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale) should get everyone’s tongues wagging.
But this first, real trailer also shows teases of things that should really have fans of the comics … and fantasy-action fans … excited. Things that many of us were hoping would be in the movie. That includes more, clearer footage of the menacing Destroyer armor, going all “Gort” on his Earthly surroundings, the all-seeing Heimdall (Idris Elba, with glowy eyes), and what appears to be part of the climactic battle between Thor and his evil half-brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston). And best of all is a brief sequence in which Thor strikes down a pack of dark elves by throwing Mjolnir at them. And then his mystical Uru hammer returns to his hand (a power also seen when Odin reclaims the weapon).
"The trailer has much of the footage from that leaked reel we saw floating around after SDCC with SHIELD Agent [Coulson] questioning the man who took apart his men as if they were second rate security guards with images of him doing the deed flashing about. "Where were you trained?" We flash to Asgard where Thor is getting a tongue lashing from his father Odin who calls him a boy and remarks that he has brought war to their peaceful land. Flash to a pack of bad ass looking Frost Giants on the march. Flash back and Loki attempts to lodge a protest to Thor's punishment but Dad won't hear it. The sentence is passed and we flash to Natalie Portman AKA Jane Foster showing concern and then to Thor, flat on his back, who says something like "Nooo...I'm on Earth, aren't I" with disdain in his voice. Idris Elba as Heimdall gets a fair amount of flash time as well, though it's nothing but him making faces and such. We also see a couple of Asgardian ladies, one of which being Jaimie Alexander as Sif. Some quick Frost Giant battle rounds out the excitement, some explosions go off and we see [Destroyer] is causing chaos in the middle of it all. So that's about it! You'll mainly want to see this in 3D and of course...FROST GIANT RAMPAGE!!"
While things are looking the same, I should mention that I was told the CGI, Asgard scenes have been improved since the SDCC trailer. Anyhow, Yahoo, who also unveiled the first official image for Marvel's
THOR, is expected to unveil the teaser tomorrow morning. And in the meantime, the film hits theaters May 6, next year in 3D.
