New Spider-Man Reboot Filming Update!

In an excerpt from major films shooting in Los Angeles, Sony shares some insight on when, where, and how long filming will occur for the Spider-Man reboot. Check it out!

Two weeks into principal photography, Sony's Marc Webb-directed Spider-Man reboot is creating buzz filming in Los Angeles, providing some relief to a sector that has been battered by job losses. Excerpted from LA Times' Company Town, a few details regarding what the shoot will provide, how long, and where it will and has taken place, check out what was stated below.

Sony began its 90-day film shoot for “Spider-Man” film two weeks ago, mainly on the lot but also on location: including at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood and Immanuel Presbyterian Church in mid-Wilshire. The film alone will employ nearly 1,000 crew members, including construction workers building sets for the production, which takes up seven stages on the Sony Pictures lot. While the production will include two weeks in New York (where the story is set), the bulk of filming will occur in Los Angeles on the Sony lot and various locations around town, from South Pasadena to San Pedro to Woodland Hills. Sony had ample incentive to select L.A. as its primary destination.

“This [is] the fourth Spider-Man production we have shot primarily in Los Angeles and for good reason," Sony Pictures Entertainment spokesman Steve Elzer said. “The crews here are the best in the world but there is a comfort level in producing a project of this size and scope on your own backlot.“

And Screamscape sources have confirmed that the reboot is preparing to shoot on the Universal Backlot next month, in which images of the set construction appeared online last week, but no one was sure they were to be used for the Spider-Man shoot.

I've also received word anonymously that partial filming has will occur at St. John Bosco High school in Bellflower, California, where Sony supposedly donated $80,000 to the school for allowing 11 days of filming. My source says:

"This movie is being filmed in part of my school, there shooting some scenes in our gym, there is a going to be a basketball game in one of the scenes, the mascot for the school is Panthers."

Anyhow, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifans, Spider-Man swings back into theaters in 3D July 3, 2012.

@leeholland - Why do people think the general population is too stupid to understand what a reboot is? Get off your [frick]ing high horse. They may have poor taste in films, but that's simply a matter of personal preference. That in no way means they're intellectually inferior to you.

That being said, I'm very excited for this movie.

@ComicCritic87@ I'm guessing a lot of CGI will need to be done in post, I can see the lizard and Spidey fights taking a whole year to CGI, plus all the city swinging scenes and stuff.
