Now chatting exclusively with 95.8 Capital FM, actor Andrew Garfield, star of Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot talks a bit about the overall progress, experience, and the emotional feeling of donning the tights of the webslinger and more. Even touching on learning early that he'd been cast, Garfield says:

“It’s going great and I’m having a fantastic time. We have such an amazing cast, so I’m heaven playing this role. I feel like a kid in the candy store, I’m one lucky boy I tell you.”

So what does it feel like to wear the infamous red and blue suit?
“It’s bizarre and I have to not look at my face. It’s strange and surreal to be wearing it and I won’t lie I actually shed a tear when I first wore the spandex for the first time. I didn’t expect to get so emotional but I did.”

And what about the Christmas season, we wondered if Andrew can eat whatever he wants?
"It’s tough man, I have to keep watching what I eat and I love eating and eating the worst things. It’s really really hard, but I know that I have this responsibility to so many people to stay fit and trim and to basically not get obese!”

So how did Andrew feel on hearing the news via text at 4am, in Los Angeles?
“I was going in to shoot my second day on set on Spider-Man and at first I was upset for having to get up so early, I probably looked miserable but on the inside I was seriously excited. But it was a lovely and surreal day and my co-star Emma Stone was also nominated for “Easy A” and we had our first scene together that day, so it was a really special day.”

So did Andrew’s ['Social Network] co-star Justin Timberlake also congratulate him?
“Yeah, he sent me a couple of texts saying that he’s so proud of me and Jesse and something equally cool. He’s the most supportive and loving friend and what we pride ourselves on is the fact that we’ve also been nominated for a several ensemble categories and that really means a lot to us.”

Andrew Garfield leads the Marc Webb-directed Spider-Man into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

If Spider-Man 3 is like Batman Forever and Spider-Man: The Musical is like Batman and Robin, then this film will be like Batman Begins!

Of course he is going to cry. He's playing a teenie Spidey and it is all about his struggles with accepting his powers. It's going to be another Superman Returns only with Spidey! :-P Kidding. Kind of....

I think he is 100 times better than Tobey Maguire. I hated him as Spidey in every one of those movies. Spider-Man can be a geek but not a total flamer like Tobey. I am looking forward to this despite the fact that it is a REBOOT.

Jeez, why does everyone keep focusing on the "teenage" Spider-Man thing?! Did people forget that Spider-Man started his career as a hero at the age of 16! He was so original at the time for being a young superhero that had problems, this is the staple of Spider-Man, and now comic book fans are pissing and moaning because they're going back to the original comics?! What the [frick]?!

Ryden@ Because we have dealt with the teen Spidey enough. Been there done that with all the different shows. Continue the series on, but I don't want to watch the beginning over again. That's what bothers me about reboots. We are never going to get anywhere if they keep going back to the beginning. ;-)

Garfield is going to hit this one out of the park, just hope Marc Webb can do the same. I like also that he truly loves the character and is honoured to be playing Spidey its a shame that he can't be a part of MCU.

I'm staying cautiously optimistic about this reboot. I don't dislike anyone that they have in the cast, and it'll be nice to see some new villians and all.
