Joe Manganiello Yet Again Addresses Superman Casting Rumors!

While the True Blood actor's name has been linked to Zack Snyder's Superman reboot since early November, Joe Manganiello was recently rumored to be back in the running for the iconic role. Well, while hes addressed the rumors several times in the past, speaking with Extra today, the actor neither confirms nor denies the rumor.

"It's not up to me at this point," Manganiello said, referring to rumors he's set to wear the blue tights and red cape in the new film "Superman: Man of Steel" from director Zack Synder. "I love Zack Snyder, huge fan. I'd be honored if they chose to do that. We'll see. It's out there in the ether."

What do you think? Anyhow, while I can't post is up just yet, inside one of Production Weekly's updates, the Superman film apparently follows Clark Kent as a freelance reporter in his early 20's, traveling all around the world covering various news stories. However, Kent is forced to fly back into action to attain a fleeing assassin instead of covering an ethnic conflict between the Ghuri and Turaaba clans in West Africa. Upon his return to form, Kent returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and become the hero he was born to be.

Like the casting rumor, take the story details with a grain of salt as of now. But the film is slated for release December, 2012.

He's too old to play Superman, by the time the reboot comes out he'll be 36 years old.I thought that they wanted a young Superman.

He'd be awesome as Supes. He's a good actor and he looks the part. He's clearly matured as an actor since Flash Thompson. That was 10 years ago.

Agreed, he looks quite different than he did when he was Flash.

Joe M. been my pick aside from Welling. Wouldn't mind if anyone else was casted aside from Routh and Hammer. But I'll be a fanboy and say JOE FREAKIN M. ALL THE WAY!

If anybody thinks he is perfect would also have to think any below average actor that can lower their eyebrows and look brooding can play this part. He has muscles but so don't so many REAL actors. You guys need to stop starring at his chest and realize that this man is no Superman!

They are looking for someone who looks the 28-32 age range. Joe would work just fine. You don't literally have to be within that age range.

BruceWayneNewton@ Manganeillo is far better of an actor than Routh was or is. Apparently you haven't seen images or appearances by him where he looks like the nice, kind guy. You seem to be basing your opinion on a select range stereotype without looking at the big picture. I also remember when people thought Robin Williams could only do comedy and Clint Eastwood could only do Westerns.

I think the reboot should be about how The Man of Steel came to Earth. Then they should show him as Clark Kent. Lastly, they should show how he is destined to become Superman.

@range- Maybe I am but this guy would be perfect for another hero role like Hawkman but not for Supes. Let's not kid ourselves either, you don't need to be an Oscar winner to play Superman. You do have to look the part though and this guy doesn't look the part to me.

If the guy who is all of those TV shows mentioned if Flash Thompson he seems like a decent actor and all, but it would just seem uneasy to me that Nerd = Spider-Man, Bully = F--KING SUPERMAN! Not that it would be a big enough reason to not cast him, but I think it's worth mentioning. I hope Zack tells more about this on all of the interviews he's going to be doing for Sucker Punch soon.
