Viggo Mortensen "Eyed" For General Zod In Superman Reboot!

Viggo Mortensen "Eyed" For General Zod In Superman Reboot!

The cast of the Superman reboot may be growing with talent, surrounding an unknown lead. And latest reports suggest that LOTR' Viggo Mortensen is a "person of interest". Check it out!

Citing sources of The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that supporting cast for Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel are coming along greatly. With the relatively unknown Henry Cavill leading the reboot, the site states verbatim:

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder are zeroing in on an intriguing actor to play the villain: Viggo Mortensen. Hes said to be at the top of the list to play General Zod, the evil and super-powered scientist first introduced not in the comic books but in 1980's Superman II.

Viggo Mortensen, notably known as 'Aragorn' of the Lord Of The Rings franchise, is still in negotiations for Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. THR further states that Mortensen is just a "person of interest," much like Kevin Costner for Jonathan "Pa" Kent. However, both actors are at the top list.

With this report, we can assume that the rumor of the villainess Ursa making an appearance, may be legit, having common villains with the original Superman film & it's sequel. What do you think?

Anyhow, while director Zack Snyder is also meeting actresses for three female parts as well, Superman: Man Of Steel is slated for theaters Mid-December 2012!

According to the article he's the top choice for General Zod. That'd be awesome!

Please no more of Zod. We need more classical villians like Braniac or Bizzaro.

Nice find buddy! I was really hoping we would get to see a new villain on the big screen, but if they are going with Zod, then Viggo is a great choice.

Didn't Zack Snyder already rule out using Zod? Also Zod was in comic books before Superman II.

Why do they feel the need to keep on rehashing the same villains? Why not use Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid, Mongul, Parasite, Metallo hell for [frick]s sake even Toyman. Dammit. Soooo many Superman villains but they just feel the need to keep giving us more of the same. -_- what a disappointment.

I like this choice but I'd like to see Gerard Butler as Zod.

No, please not Zod again. He's a great character but he's been done already. I thought they were trying to do something new for this Superman movie....Please give us a villain we haven't seen on film before. I hate Brainiac as a villain but I'll even take him over Zod and Luthor again.

Ideally I want Darkseid in at least one or all of the new Superman movies, he's the best villain.

Can we get a new look for Superman finally? I was flipping through the channels last night and I happened upon the movie "The Phantom"...you know the one with Billy Zane. That's the only Superhero that might look more dated then Superman. His stupid purple unitard is the only [frick]ing costume that I think looks DUMBER than SUPERMAN! [frick] already. Fix it.

They keep giving Brainiac the shaft. -_-

Well if this film spawns a sequel...maybe we'll finally get to see Brainiac make his film debut. =(

Viggo the Villain? Interesting. He's such a good guy, even when questionable like History of Violence and that russian mobb movie where he fights naked.

@magic8- Goyer wrote the screenplay and NOLAN approved it and brought it to WB DUMBASS.

No need to bully people on here assWHIPE

As a fan i have a right to express my anger at the villain-choice. But calling me a "dumbass" is a very mean thing to say.

I'm not thrilled about Zod, but he's not terrible. Still better than Doomsday. Hopefully he'll just be in a flashback scene.

Lets not jump to conclusions just yet. Maybe it'll be like the first Superman film and he'll be introduced but saved as the villain for the sequel.
