Amy Adams Portraying 'Lois Lane' In Superman: Man Of Steel!

The folks at the LA Times' Hero Complex has landed an exclusive on whose the latest to join Zack Snyder's much-anticipated Superman: Man Of Steel. Portraying none other than the lovely Lois Lane, The Fighter Academy-award nominated actress Amy Adams is set. Check out what Snyder had to say.

“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relebant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”

Minor Update: More From Snyder...
“Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about," Snyder said in a statement Sunday. "So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful."
When questioned on the feeling of developing a film where every casting choice is a global news flash, ”It’s an epic thing, no doubt. But this good news is the cast is shaping up to fit that.”

While keeping quite on the presence of Lois Lane, Snyder considered her “a linchpin” to the reboot and that it's prominent that she appear with contemporary appeal and spirit.

Anyhow, with Amy Adams joining Henry Cavill, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner, Superman: Man Of Steel is slated for release Mid-December, next year!

I would think she would be a better fit for Lana Lang since she is a red head?

All in all, She is a gazillion times better than Kate Bosworth, Amy was great in The Fighter, she could have won for it, I know she was nominated for Doubt, what was the other one she was nominated for? She looked the part for Amelia Earhart but she did the accent wrong since Amelia was NOT British. I like her a lot, she can pull of the strong female part, just watch her in The Fighter, she took command in that film.

@jazzman Yeah I have, and look how it turned out for Kate Bosworth in the last film?

Just my initial thoughts, but she will blow Bosworths perfomance to the Negative Universe

jazzman - 3/27/2011, 11:22 AM
it better to cast Amy Adams shes more mature then these stupid young Hollywood actress.

@claybo4131

u based Kate Bosworth bad perfomance on hair colour LOL

Kate Bosworth was the wrong choice for Lois cause she did not had that tough Lois Lane attitude.

I think she's a great choice, great actress. This is total surprise, but a very pleasant surprise. Its going to be kinda weird seeing her with out her red hair. Anyway's great casting I approve.

I NEVER expected this.
I would've preferred Olivia Wilde or even Rachel McAdams...but Adams should do well.

@jazzman HAHA no I did not base it on that, there was many reasons why. She was a bad actress to begin with anyways, role was too big for her, she was WAY too young, she was too nice to play Lois and was too girl next door. Yes she was not sassy but she also was not b***** and take in command and control of the screen. The blonde roots were all I could end up staring at throughout the entire movie anyways pretty much LOL.

Too old and too red headed. She is nice looking, but you have to dye her hair and she will look too old for Henry Cavill by the 2nd flick.

I'll have to watch her in The Wedding Crashers again to see how I feel about this...

Although the movie was weak, she was a great strong woman in that Ben Stiller museum movie...
