@capistheman

Thank you for noticing that he's being himself and not acting in a movie in that clip, my mature friend.

He is an amazing character actor who finally has his first BIG BIG break.

Yeah, he seems more like a stooge than a general.

Fanboys lack a certain self-awareness, don't they. Anytime they bash someone that they don't know due to ignorance, then they'll praise them when the movie is released...then do it again and again and again.

@bonesmcgee - I think Shannon is a good actor, and I hope to be surprised, but he does not embody the imposing nature of General Zod. I think Zod in this movie is a bad idea, and I think this casting choice is poor. I just hope he does a few cycles and bulks up some, I don't want a super villain with a gut and no muscle.

Should've been Lex Luthor. ;D

I could see Shannon as Metallo, sort of. But, and this is a big but, if he really bulked up a lot, he could be 'Non.'

He's just not physically imposing in the least, nor does he comes across like a megalomaniacal leader of men and overall bad-ass fighter, he's just an ugly dude. His eyes are too far apart and he seems cross-eyed, like he's missing a chromosome or something. Superman's got the fights in the bag now, since all Superman has to do is stand right in front of him in his blind spot and not telegraph his attacks. Zod won't see a thing.

Lol this dude seemed way high...but that's fine, he's a great actor and great actors can flip a switch and be in character. I have no problem with his CASTING, but i do have a problem with them rehashing General Zod. I think we deserve a new never-before-seen-live villain.

@Bane- He's taller than Cavill??? Never mind that then. =P

They would need to give Cavill some kind of heigh-boost. So we can already assume since Cavill is 6'1" they will cast a guy for Lex who is maybe around 5'11" ...

Possibly this Sunday or the next we can finally see some movement on the casting of Lex Luthor.

The Zod route makes sense for a first movie - ties to his origins, and all.

Still, I was really excited about the rumor of the story involving the military application of Kryptonite/Metallo as the villain. That would be a sweet sequel, either way.

Viggo would have been INSANE as Zod. I've got the worst blue balls. THANKS WARNER BROS :(

@FredBoca - You're right about the disco outfits, but you've got to chalk it up to the times - In 30 years we'll be sayin the same stuff about costumes we think look cool today.

Love Zod. But still...Goyer being a geek and all, he should slap himself in the head for even thinking that rehashing Zod again was a good idea for what was supposed to be a FRESH REBOOT.

Whatever...if Zod really IS the main villain, they better update him and just make him totally different from the Terence Stamp version. What we really DON'T need is another rehash film for Superman.

Wow this guy's insane and it's funny cause on Boardwalk Empire he plays a totally different kind of insane.

I think I have a good guess at the plot from everything I read so far and especially Snyders quote- "there might be a character that people refer to as Superman".

Zod arrives and comes out to the world before Superman is even around and acts good at first (maybe people even call him Superman like he said) but Clark knows his intentions (from the fortress or something) and then becomes the real Superman we all know and stops Zod.

Supposedly they had some amazing idea that nobody ever had about Superman. So I think that idea was having an evil version of him come first, which is Zod.

@JaySin420- I think you're on to something there! I never thought of that!

At first many of us believed Snyder was just playing coy with his 'people may refer to as Superman' remark.

Hopefully this movie will be epic. Still wanted Brainiac though...darn it. Hopefully IF a sequel is made...they can finally give Brainiac his due.

If anyone had a chance to see the movie 13 with Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke, Michael Shannon has a small part in it and he's super weird and creepy in it... I hope he brings that to Zod's character. I want to see a total super powered lunatic and he just has that face that makes me want to sleep with the lights on. haha

Still not a fan of using Zod again. Shannon however is really good actor with alot of talent.

I really loved him in John Waters Cecil B. DeMented as the gay driver Petie.

Hey, long as i don't see Henry Cavill reach on his chest and pull off a copy of his "S" and throw it at him, i think it could be a damned good movie

General Zod = Superman's Ra's Al Ghul?

I think they are going the "Batman Begins" route with the Mentor-turned-Enemy approach. This would be a nice way to introduce Superman's suit. Maybe as some Kryptonian military wear.

I have never seen a movie featuring Michael Shannon, so I don't know what to expect.

I guess he's in to provide more of the Kryptonian background!

Yes, maybe they're going deeper into the Krypton stuffs.

Another villains are needed, of course!

@ FredBroca - I don't suppose it matters if Zod isn't physically imposing. Look at the Superman they've given us; a school choir boy.

Can't really say I'm bothered they're re-using Zod, although I can see why. My excitement level on this film is still only on about 2/10.

And they MUST use the John Williams Krypton theme.

I've said before,
Zod=Ra's
Falcone=Lex
Scarecrow=Metallo
League Of Shadows=Intergang

This makes sense guys although would of preferred Viggo Mortensen, Joseph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs or Gerard Butler but no doubts Shannon will be great! Still rooting for Billy Zane,DDL or Olyphant for Lex!
