Well, it seems the folks at Warner Bros. are confident in the previously-troubled special effects for their Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern film, presenting a SFX wrap party last night. And further celebrating, the studio has now debuted over forty new movie stills, as well set images. Check them out in all of their emerald glory below!

Green Lantern follows a universe as vast as it is mysterious, where a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, & Peter Sarsgaard the film releases June 17!

I have a feeling that this summer is gonna belong to marvel. This movie just isn't impressing me. I could be wrong, but either way the cg is a let down.

Wow, they really cleaned up the CGI!
I like it!

Yeah, CGI looks way better than it did on the first footage release...but I kind of wish they had used a better company like ILM or something

It looks so good! I am beyond excited about this movie. Green Lantern will be a modern comicbookmovie marvel to behold! Say what you will but you should watch this movie. It will help your favorite company be it DC, Marvel or Image or whatever. I think everyone will have something that they will enjoy in this cosmic wonder!

haters gon hate, that's all that needs to be said. i had my reservations about this film when the first trailer came out, im sure everyone did, but it's obviously they saw the flaws and fixed them. the CGi looks great (to me) been a fan of GL for YEARS, just being able to say and see there's a live action movie of GL is worth something.

can someone do some before and after CGI shots please?

How are people still complaining about the CGI? I think some people have WAY too much time on their hands. Wait until it comes out and then see it before you hate on the CGI. That's my two cents.

@Intruder:
Now I'm actually with you on that, Kilowog is just too plain, too simple in his design here. Like a goddamn seacow. But with that being said, at least he is in the movie as the drill sergeant and rookie trainer. They are keeping this true to the comics and I like that.

Furthermore, somebody should do an article showcasing the difference between the first SFX shots and these finalized pictures of the SFX. I bet we will see that there is a millon years dividing them. :)

I gotta say every frame of this movie looks exactly like a GL comic, they really have the look spot on. :)

@Xenix How can you hate the movie without even watching it? You have yet to see the finished product and you're saying they couldn't pull it together?

But I bet you thought Thor was flawless. Even though the CGI in GL blows the doors down on what we saw in Asgard.

The CGI is not that great, look at the picture of Jordan holding Ferris. Then look at his hand. Not perfect but cant complain, I hope the movie will be good!

If you guys think thor's visuals are something to compare green lantern to then I couldn't give two craps what you think, our even that thor will be in the same caliber of film making- it won't. Thor was a cheesy entertaining romp with bad action, being chased by a giant cartoon cat while floating in front of a transposed background is not on par with green lantern. If you guys think ILM should have done this movie then watch ironman 2, specially where rhodey lands the mk2 armor at the airforce base, they couldn't even make a simple metal suit look natural.

I am beyond stoked for this!! cgi looks great!!!!! sure it could be better, cgi in every movie could be better including thor, avatar, and such others. But no one here can disagree that there have not been any improvements since this first trailer and that everything from Oa to the details on the mask all look soooooo much better. in fact i am totally happy with all the cgi right now and i know it will look even better on a high quality movie screen! and who really cares about blake lively if she sucks or not? since when does a CBM ever really have a good female lead? prime and most recent example, Thor, Natalie Portman. Batman Begins, Katie Holmes not so great. Iron man and Gweneth Paltrow. dont make it sound like you wana see this movie becuase you wana see a great Carol Ferris.

@Xenix - not every CBM has to have a serious tone. Reynolds pretty much emphasizes a rookie Jordan at the Corps. Fighter Pilots, or any most any pilot that's been through USAF - are the jocks of the aviation world. Having a cocky and flippant attitude is guaranteed. From what I've seen so far, the comedic elements are those "fish out of water" type deals along with Fighter Pilot Jock syndrome. Can you honestly say that you won't go a little overboard the moment a power ring landed in front of you? Like say, let your inner kid out at the very thought of the freedom the ring gives you? It's actually human nature to do that - like getting it out of your system until the reality of the matter sinks in that you realize you've been handed something that can split atoms with ease and create a nuclear holocaust just by willing it to happen with a thought.

If you're a fan of DC and its characters, then you should have also known that Hal Jordan - before he changed his tone after being handled by different writers over the years - was originally a wiseacre. He didn't become friends with Barry and Green Arrow (especially Green Arrow) without having a sense of humor to match them (Most especially Ollie being a smartass before he, too, got serious). Before you let your distaste of the actors cloud your judgment, WATCH the movie in it's entirety without bias. It's easy to create bias for movies like Superman, Batman, X-men, and Spider-Man because we can compare them to films that have gone before their newer counterparts. With GL, there is no BEFORE, so you can't compare it to anything.

As for effects, they were going for the ALIEN look, and I think they've succeeded. Not every outer space scene and aliens have to be too squeaky-clean, or to metallic shiny, or too crystallized, or too ORDERED. Not everything outer space has to conform to what OUR ideals say it should be... that's just stupid. That's the easiest way to get disappointed real fast. What goes on around Earth, on the other hand, we can expect because we already know what mostly goes on and around us.

This movie has many "firsts". Among them being the first GL movie (you have to be at least thankful there IS one and not act like an ingrate - complain after the fact and NOT before). It's also a first of its kind that a new kind of CGi was massively used in such a scale - remember, Avatar took a long damned time to get done - these guys burned both ends of the candle to get GL finished in such a short time... however, tech has indeed come a long way and Avatar helped make it happen because it paved the way for how CGI can be used.

Hate it if you must, but for the correct reasons, don't judge it with preconceived notions that are beside what it is and not because of it.

I was sorta excited before. After seeing this, I'll be counting down the days til Green Lantern hits cinemas. The CGI looks amazing now, they've finally made the suits more like the comic (theres more contrast between the black and green), and Kilowog and Tomar-Re look freaking sweet now. Hell, they even got the mask right.

Saw the trailer yesterday when I went to see X-Men, and I was on the edge of my seat, it looked stunning on the big screen!

@LOL completely agree man.

@ACira:
I know right(slowly starting to become my new catchphrase after they removed it from the film, lmao). I went to see X-men: First Class today and when the GL trailer showed I was just stunned at how amazing this looks on the big screen. You cannot really compare it to what you see on your computer(regardless of how good the resolution and quality is), and this is saying something, as it was the second trailer(not the third, which I think is the best of the three so far) they showed...

This movie truely belongs on the big screen!!!

i guess they used the ENTIRE Practical FX budget on Hammond.

instead of throwing a Mask on reynolds that they could enhance upon later w/CG.

@N: It was filmed in 3D. The effects look much better now, and I may spring to see this in 3D. Could be pretty cool.
