Ayelet Zurer Replaces Julia Ormond As Superman's Birth Mother In Man Of Steel!

Recent reports suggest Julia Ormond is no longer apart of Man Of Steel's cast, and Angels & Demons actress Ayelet Zurer is taking over as Superman's Kryptonian Mother.

Although in the square of filming, Deadline has revealed a last-minute cast addition for Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel reboot; or rather a replacement. The site reports that actress Julia Ormond, who was attached to play Superman's Kryptonian Mother, Lara, has been replaced with Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer.

Ayelet Zurer, the Israeli actress who starred in Angels & Demons, has been set to play the role of Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s Kryptonian mother in Man of Steel. That role was originally going to be played by Julia Ormond. I was unable to find out why director Zack Snyder made the last minute change.

The site further claims Zurer will start filming this week. Ayelet Zurer, 42, is best known for her roles in Nina’s Tragedies, Adam Resurrected, Munich, and of course Angels & Demons. And playing 'Lara Lor-Van,' the actress will play alongside Academy Award-winner Russel Crowe and his 'Jor-El' role. What do you think?

Man Of Steel, under Zack Snyder's direction, stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Faora), Ayelet Zurer (Lara Lor-Van), Russell Crowe (Jor-El), Harry Lennix (General Swanwick), with Christopher Meloni (Colonel Hardy) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White). And while solid story details are currently being kept underwraps, the reboot is slated for release on June 14, 2013!

Whoa, this is like, the third actress set to play the character. Guess Snyder's having trouble finding the perfect one. :P

now THIS is much better casting. i mean, it's nothing against Ormond's talent. it's just that it makes more sense to have a little YOUNGER Lara. Ormond just looks too old.

with this, i hope there's still a chance for more casting changes, namely, Amy Adams and Diane Lane...age wise, they're also WRONG for their roles.

When I first read "replacement" I got excited for a second and thought they decided to replace Amy Adams as Lois for a younger, actually attractive actress. But my hopes and dreams were crushed. =(

I agree with EarOne. Superman's biological mother should actually still be able to have children, at least look like it. Since he's the first and only child his parents should be somewhat young, at least in their early 30s. I'm glad they chose an actress that looks much younger.

Now if only they can recast Amy as Lois . . .

Just get this movie made the way it should be. It stands to possibly be the best CBM ever.

@JULEZ13 I think they're deciding to go with the ACTUAL acting ability route with Lois, instead of mindless manufactured Hollywood woman #52..

I am sure glad that none of you are in this movie business or we would have some idiot like Vanessa Hudgens playing Lois,
instead of the three time academy award nominated Amy Adams..

Yeah she going to totally fail because she is in her 30's <-- sarcasm....

Both are good actresses, maybe Snyder thought Ayelet might pair better with Crowe.
