Idris Elba Offers Up Vague THOR 2 Story Details; Says Heimdall Is "Definitely" More Involved

Revealing he has seen an outline of the story, hit the jump for a recent video interview with 'Heimdall' actor Idris Elba, as he vaguely details what to expect from Marvel Studios' THOR sequel!

While promoting Ridley Scott's Prometheus thriller, actor Idris Elba sat down with MTV News and discussed his much-anticipated reprisal as Heimdall in Marvel Studios' Thor follow-up. Revealing that he has seen an outline of the story, Elba also says his role as the 'Guardian of the Worlds' has been expanded, among other things.

"I'm actually excited about it," Idris Elba said. "I literally just did a costume fitting the other day." Revealing that he has already seen an outline of the sequel's story, he's mostly anticipating Heimdall's expanded role. "Definitely Heimdall's more involved, but also, what's more involved is who the Asgardians are," he said. "I think we'll see a sense of that. It's a huge film, 'Thor 2,' but I also think it's micro in a way that you start to look at people, who they are a little bit more."

Exploring Thor's relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, “Thor 2″ follows the God of Thunder to other worlds beyond Asgard and earth. With the Warriors Three tagging along, among other Asgardian warriors, more mythical Norse creatures are expected. “Thor 2″ stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Mads Mikkelsen, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, and Ray Stevenson. Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones″) takes over directorial duties from Kenneth Branagh, who helmed the first “Thor″ film. And “Thor 2″ hits theaters November 15, 2013.

I would hate to play "I Spy" with Heimdall. It would be futile. MTV is Geo-Racist.

I hoping now that MARVEL isn't pushing so hard to the end zone after the success of The Avengers that they relax and let the solo movies breathe a little more. THOR 2 is the one I'm looking forward to the most. I highly enjoyed the first, but at times it felt a bit rushed in developing it's relationships and character development because it needed to get from A to Z as quickly as possible going into The Avengers.

The biggest question here is when is this movie set? In Avengers, Thor clearly states to Loki that Heimdel is gone. So is this movie explaining where he goes? Or answering where he's been?

Sorry, but if they are focusing on Asgard's history and the dynamics between those involved in the first film, Beta Ray Bill just doesn't fit in and is a little "out there" for mainstream public. Down the road perhaps, but I don't think he fits into the Game of Thrones feel that it sounds like they want to go with. Stick with the Asgard and realm characters for now.

I wanna see:
Balder the brave
Vidar, the avenger of Odin
Tyr, the fearless god of war and former protector of Asgard
Fenris wolf

I wonder if they will explain how ther can be myths about Thor and Loki from the age of vikings if Thor and Loki was not even born untill after the war with the giants, about 950 ad..
