While Reel Movie Nation has a few details and images from today's filming of Iron Man 3 in Cary, NC, NBC-17 has spotted actor Don Cheadle, who of course reprises his Iron Man 2 role as James "Rhodey" Rhodes respectively. Spotting nabbing lunch out Epic Games Studios, check it out below. Gwyneth Paltrow has also tweeted her arrival.

"A little later," reports Reel Movie Nation, "a couple of motorcycles were brought out that were marked “Miami Police” (which confirms that the film will be partly set in Miami, Florida), and a couple of black vehicles that had Government issued license plates. And then the crew brought out giant screens to block our view of the action. Even though we couldn’t see anything, we could still hear someone (maybe director Shane Black, maybe not) yelling “Action,” and a couple minutes later, “Cut!”"

NBC-17 have also been tipped details for tomorrow's shoot:

Filming is expected to continue in Cary on Wednesday, with Cary Police saying that drivers should expect police-controlled delays on Weston Parkway from NC 54/Chapel Hill Road to Harrison Avenue between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.. A source told NBC-17 on the condition of anonymity that there will be a closed shoot Wednesday at Building C on the SAS campus off Harrison Avenue.

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Nice... I wonder what else we'll get in this movie. Marvel has learned and was able to juggle a lot with Avengers.

I'm confident this movie will be good.

Rhodey wasn't in the Avengers because:
a) maybe the suit was being repaired
b) maybe he was on a mission in some middle-east country
c) maybe he was on his way,he just didn't make it in time for the action.
or d) vacations :P

They should have replaced him. This will throw people off. People aren't used to the same actor playing War Machine two movies in a row. :P

Good TO know cheadle will be in it. I wonder if they'll play a little bit more into Iron Man & War Machine's partnership or if rodey will continuously be the wall that holds tony up right whn he's about to fall.

He wasn't in Avengers because the government controls him and they didn't even want to go through with the Avengers Initiative. They wanted to blow up Manhattan lol Would've been cool if they made War Machine the one to fire the nuke.

*Yawn*

Why does Stark have his Mark 2 suit on display if it became the War Machine armor in Iron Man 2?

M) Being a highly valued asset of the governments military, they would not be sending him in to help a situation they already deemed lost and containable only by nuking Manhattan island!

They could easily explain as to why he wasn't in The Avengers.

1. He tried to join and Fury had SHIELD Agents stop him.

2. He was on the otherside of the war trying to send troops and marines and acting as an Eagle's Eye for the Military and perhaps SHIELD.

3. Tony could've asked him to watch over Pepper.

However, I'm sure Tony will make a reference to it, Shane Black's dialogue is witty (Not as much as Joss' though) and he can make that conversation about "Where was Rhodey" very sarcastic and funny.

He was probably still in the west coast while tony was in new york..doubt he follows him everywhere. Plus he's in the military so he may have had orders to not go

@SuspenseSmith

Unless there is another scene which I didn't see, Loki possess Barton, 1 SHEILD agent and Dr. Dr. Selvig, who all escape in the chase at the begining. It is later explained that any other help Loki gets is provided from SHEILD enemies, who they have no shortage off. So Fury isn't really Shooting his own men.

@weneedrevelation

Agreed. While Cheadle is a good actor he isn't War Machine for me. When I heard they were looking for a new actor around the time before filming began on "Iron Man 2" that picture of Downey and Fox came out as they had just been in "The Soloist" together. Fox has the badarse thats necessary, looks the part and can back up the acting with it. Oh well.
