IRON MAN 3 Soundtrack May Feature Australian Rock Band Wolfmother

According to the frontman of the Grammy Award-winning Aussie rock band Wolfmother, Andrew Stockdale, Iron Man 3 producers have invited them to feature on the film's soundtrack!

Before filming kicked off for Iron Man 3, producers were already pursuing musicians for the anticipated film's soundtrack. Speaking with Classic Rock magazine back in May, Australian retro-rocker Andrew Stockdale, frontman of the Grammy Award-winning Wolfmother rock band, revealed they're in the mix.

He says his new five-piece lineup are ready deliver their third album after some contractual difficulties. And one track, tentatively called Ghetto, has been submitted to producers of the Iron Man franchise. “Only last night we were invited to submit and I had the perfect song,” Stockdale reports. “It has a big, slow, sludgy riff.”

Iron Man 3 won't exactly be the Australian band's first comic book movie feature. They also contributed to the official soundtrack of the third installment of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise. Anyhow, after many drastic lineup changes, in which critics blamed Stockdale for, Wolfmother also consists of Ian Peres, Vin Steele, Elliott Hammond & Hamish Ross. As the quote notes, Wolfmother's song hasn't been finalized yet. What do you think?

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

This is horrible

How about Marvel stop buying POS scorers and invest in someone good. They made tons of cash over Avengers and won't bother investing in anyone.

[frick] Marvel, cheap as shit.

The first film still has the best soundtrack, Ramin Djawadi did an amazing job bringing some original music to it, i didn't really like AC/DC the original music fitted so much better with the tone of the film.

FightAsOne - They have 2 Albums, 1st. is self-titled, 2nd. is called "Cosmic Egg" / Both are awesome, second one is a slight improvement. A few choice tracks would be - "Joker and the thief, 10,000 feet, Sundial, White Unicorn, that is just a taste, but ALL their sonds are sweet. A. Stockdale is a great writer.

I've actually heard of these guys, surprising since I'ma yank, but when he said, “It has a big, slow, sludgy riff,” that makes me think of Audioslave...

Hmmm... Audioslave in Iron Man 1, Wolfmother in Iron Man 3, I like it!

Wait, wait. I know these guys. The Joker and the Thief. Oh, this film will ooze "badass". Glad they're adding non-ACDC tracks to Stark's "record collection" (coming from an ACDC fan).

Wolfmother is a [frick]ing great band and all but isnt AC/DC's music a kind of staple for the IM films? I mean both films DID start off with Back in Black and Shoot to Thrill...hell Tony used Shoot to Thrill when he hacked into Widow's jet in Germany...

Sounds good to me. They should let The Sword do the entire score for the new Thor as well.
