MTV News recently caught up with Academy Award-winning veteran actor Sir Anthony Hopkins to discuss his reprisal as the all-father Odin in Marvel's Thor: The Dark World. Commenting on co-stars of the Alan Taylor-directed flick that he's shared scenes with, check out what he says below!

“I do my last shot Friday,” Anthony Hopkins said. “I had a great time working with Chris Hemsworth and Rene Russo. Chris is mostly who I'm working with; he's a wonderful actor, great new star, Natalie Portman [too]. I'm having a ball! It's great working with young people. I haven't been in the film that much, I've only done isolated scenes with Chris...Christopher Eccleston plays Malekith very good! We've had one encounter.” On Odin's golden eyepatch, Hopkins says, “I have to be careful where I step [on-set] because I lose all dimension. The movie sets can be dangerous.”

Speaking of Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, the two filmed a scene in London earlier today. And Expederest has provided brief footage from the shoot. Check it out below!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In addition to “Thor: The Dark World”, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on more iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel (title TBA) on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

its good to see him happy acting again. i remember seeing him talking about how he got tired of acting for a while and just got jaded from doing it, especially the intense dramatic leading roles. little roles like this are the ones he enjoys doing now

Yeah it is nice to hear this masterful actor enjoy his work, unlike other whiny over paid crybabies who sign contracts and wine when they want out.

THank You Sir Hopkins for a brilliant and masterful portrayal of Odin.

I read an interview with him for Hitchcock, he really doesn't seem to take the idustry or the job too seriously, so i don't see him saying no to Thor ever if he had fun the last time round, which is an attitude i like to see, for the fun of it.

Not many actors, even veterans, could of pulled off the role of the All-Father quite so convincingly as Sir Anthony Hopkins did.
Quite simply he has the rare gravitas and aura to be both a terrifying and wise Odin.

"BUT YOU'RE NOT A KING!.... not yet".

the first thor, as good as it was, kinda felt like a PRECURSOR movie..i hope this sequel will feel more like a stand alone epic CBM, like the original Superman or Burton's Batman or Raimi's Spider-Man 1 & 2.

Admit it. If he came out tomorrow and said something along the lines of "i didn't like working on a property like this" for whatever justified reason, Ya'll would be calling him a worthless bitch, just because he insulted your MARVEL God. Hypocrites!
