FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot Gets A 2015 Release Date!

Official word is out that 20th Century Fox have slated their reboot of Marvel's First Family, the Fantastic Four, for release in the very year The Avengers 2, among other tentpoles, will hit! Check it out!

With The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future already on track, 20th Century Fox's next big-screen adaptation based on a Marvel Comics property is the Fantastic Four reboot. And according to Exhibitor Relations, the reboot has been given a release date, which slates the all-new take on Marvel's First Family for a premiere in the same year as Star Wars Episode VII, maybe Justice League, and of course the other anticipated Marvel superhero ensemble flick, The Avengers sequel.

The new Fantastic Four film will hit theaters on March, 6, 2015! In addition to the release date, Fox also announced that The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters will all be 3D releases. No surprise there. Anyhow, directed by Chronicle helmer Josh Trank, who officially signed on back in July, the reboot is being penned by Jeremy Slater, who promises a take on the superhero team that “fans deserve.”

The first two original films, Fantastic Four (2005) and Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), were directed by Tim Story and starred Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, Chris Evans (now Captain America) as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/Thing. About the reboot, there were several casting rumors years ago when development of a new film was announced. But with a release date now confirmed, who do you think could play the team?

out of all the fox/sony owned marvel films, this is the one i was hoping would revert the most out of all of them, because the fantastic four is the only one that fits perfectly tone wise, and can be introduced without screwing up the continuity.

Wow, that is really bad planning.

I thought a Justice Movie would find it tough sharing a summer with Avengers 2 (As already a established success), and Star Wars 7 (Because well it is Star Wars), but at least it might have a successful Superman movie as a lead in, whereas this is coming off 2 mediocre movies, even if this is really good, I can't see this doing well at the box office, I could be wrong, but time will tell.

Least favorite Marvel franchise. All of them are tools except for The Thing, Reed Richards is so smart, but he can't find a way to fix his friend, but he does have time to sleep with a hot blonde who cheats on him anyway plus her younger brother who's a complete toolbag. yeah couldn't care less.

Hopefully the script hasn't been written and it ends up being crappy and Trank leaves. That way they can't move forward. Then, hopefully, there aren't any interested actors (lol, like that will ever happen). If those things happen, maybe this takes too long to develop and rights to characters revert back.

@Intruder is right, I've said that before. Anything can happen. Trank might lose interest in this project, FOX has to scramble for another director, and before they can find one-the rights have already reverted.lol

I fear the general public will get burned out on CBM's with this many movies coming out in 2015. I hope this won't be the last hurrah, as CBM's fall out of favor because of oversaturation....

@AcidicHeart Actually they would have enough time. Since it's scheduled to be released in March of 2015, so they will probably start principal photography in early 2014. I think they have until October of 2014 to start principal photography or the rights revert.

Wonder if they will go with the current costumes?

I say they should just use the cast of Modern Family. Most of them seem to get around ok, and at least they're entertaining. That would be:

Ty Burrell as Mr. Fantastic
Julie Bowen as Mrs. Fantastic
Jesse Tyler Ferguson as The Human Torch
Eric Stonestreet as The Thing

...and Ed O'Neill as Dr. Doom.

This way, even if the movie sucked as a CBM, at least it would have serious comedic potential.

I already miss the old team. And Chris Evans is grown up as Captain America.

@drwalle Oversaturation? why do people use this term to refer to a genre that only releases half a dozen movies maybe even less per year compared to other genres that have a [frick] load more movies being released every year than cbms.

And i agree with @AcidicHeart aint the rights meant to revert in 2014 if they havnt made a movie by then.
