First Set Photos From IRON MAN 3 Filming In Beijing

Although nothing too out of the ordinary, the first photos from the filming of Iron Man 3, in Beijing, have surfaced and feature one of Tony Stark's (old?) armors, tiny extras and actor Wang Xueqi.

Less than five months from its summer release, filming for Iron Man 3 is underway and near ending at the Yongding Gate, in Beijing, as reported earlier this week. And recent photos from the shoot, via China Daily, feature the recently announced ‘Dr. Wu’ actor Wang Xueqi, a class of uniformed child extras, a strange steel-like globe prop and one of billionaire Tony Stark's armors; seemingly an older one judging by its mostly red backside. Sans Robert Downey Jr. himself, check it out below!

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

TURN AROUND.

Seriously, which suit is that? It's too red to be Mark XLII.

I'm guessing this is earlier in the movie, since it's an older-model of the armour?

Definitely one of the older models. This must be before he makes the Extremis outfit.

its most likely the mark 7 suit

The back indicates it's either the Mk4 or 6, you can tell by the shoulders. Kinda weird they didn't use the Mk7 if they were going to show him in an older suit.

Dammit if I wasn't at work id be reaching into my arsenal of iron man armor photos to figure out which one that is.

It's definitely not the mark VII from the end of the avengers.

I'm starting to speculate more in my head that the mark XLVII may be the armor we see at the beginning of and mostly throughout IM3 and that an entirely new unseen suit may be reserved for the final battle, just like in the avengers.

And that this may be it.

Looks like the mark VII. You can tell cause the shoulders and back part is a little thicker cause of the back mounted flight jets.

Is this some kind of flash back? I also heard somewhere that he has to build a suit from spare parts of all the other suits.

The suit has motion capture spots...

Interesting.

Maybe it's after his mansion is destroyed, and he has to improvise a new suit out of spare, old parts?

HERE'S THE PROOF!!

The back and arms are DEFINITELY from the Mark 6 (triangle chest piece)....

This could either be the whole suit, or pieces from the Mark 6 that Tony pulls together as has been reported that he will do!!
