As first speculated a month ago when the X-Men 2 editor and composer announced that Days of Future Past would reunite he and director Bryan Singer on editing terms, the Film Music Reporter has now confirmed that John Ottman will, again, take over scoring duties for the forthcoming X-Men “inbetweenquel”. In addition to the 2003 X-Men sequel, John Ottman has composed musical arrangements for other comic book adaptations, Fantastic Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer, as well as Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns & Jack the Giant Slayer.

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Days of Future Past will unite Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Fan Bingbing, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Daniel Cudmore, with Ellen Page & Booboo Stewart and the film on releases July 18, 2014!

Ottman more or less composed every single Bryan Singer film so this isn't a surprise or really news to be honest but atleast its legit.

Awesome, X-Men 2 theme was amazing, hope he comes up with something as good as that. X-Men 3 soundtrack was pretty amazing too despite the movie being shit.

And that will make him the first and only composer to have done more than one "X-Men" film.

(Michael Kamen, John Powell, Harry Gregson-Williams, Henry Jackman, and Marco Beltrami did/will have done the others.)

@Rob2814 This is confirmation that he's scoring, even though it was expected. In that interview you posted, he said "I'm signed on for editing so far...we're working on the score part."

I only remember his score for Fantastic Four. That one was pretty good. I guess I should check out his other work on YouTube right now.

I liked Henry Jackman's work more, but Ottman is alright too, I guess... it's just the thing that I still can remember Jackman's score, two years after seeing the actual movie, but can't bring up anything at all from Ottman's X-Men scores.

X2 theme feels the most iconic to all the x-men movies to date, so Im really glad with this confirmation. Hopefully John takes some elements from that theme, or even make a new version, but even more epic. Would be awesome to hear something familiar on a new sequel

so many shitty composers out there. Only Hans, Michael Giacchino, Thomas Newman, and Joe Hishashi are truly talented

He didn't do the score for X3. It was Powell score.
@Rob2814 - Wake up. Have some coffee :)

like i said before, hope the guy is still evolving and getting better with each score.

X2 is not perfect score (little too boombastic) but still really good and after all those years it's holding up very well.

p.s. Magneto Theme from XMFC was played like in 3/4 of the movie.
No wonder people still remember it.
