Marvel boss Kevin Feige has provided Entertainment Weekly with new details for Phase 2 of the studios' cinematic universe, in the magazine's recent Iron Man 3-covered issue. Highlighting Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Feige says, “We weren't going back to World War II. Cap cannot travel in time. So while Tony can go home to Malibu and Thor goes up to Asgard and Hulk can sort of ride the rails, Cap was stuck. So Cap does stay with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he has nowhere else to go. But he's not necessarily comfortable there. As you might imagine, somebody who’s spent 70 years in ice, frozen, wakes up and has to fight a bunch of aliens with a bunch of weirdos—he is trying to figure out what his life is. And just as he's given permission to let go of the past and to focus on the modern world, a ghost comes up. With the Greatest Generation in World World II, there's a tendency to reflect on that period and say, 'Things were black and white back then, and now it's hard to know who the bad guys are.' 'We wanted to play on that a little with Cap being uncomfortable with the way S.H.I.E.L.D., and in particular Nick Fury, operates. Fury certainly rides a line, sort of rides the shadows. He has, I think, lied to every character in every movie, though always for seemingly for the good.”

Thanks to Luvindowney, via Tumblr, also revealed in the Entertainment Weekly issue is Captain America: The Winter Soldier conceptual art; featuring the Winter Soldier. What do you think?

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

the mask is there cuz obviously if cap saw his mouth area he would recognize him, Some things work in comics but not in the MCU

i like the face mask, and I am pretty sure everyone lese would if it weren't for Spider-Man 3. And I mean, its pointless for him to wear a domino mask cause one those dont hide your identity and 2. Bucky never wore one in the film so it would be pointless. Could be cool.

Hopefully this bit of news will shut up those who think that Cap is being the governments bitch. Because he isn't. I have a feeling they give him a new costume and he has no choice. And when you are alone in this world you dont know anyone no money, no friends, its hard to just get up and go because you disagree. Also he feels like he needs to save people so he will do missions. Its easy guys...

1) That picture is awesome.

2) People keep saying Marvel is heading to Civil War. We're going to need more the 6-10 heroes, all of whom already work with or for the government. The bill was more about masks like Spidey or Daredevil.

That art for Winter Soldier doesn't look too bad for HIS character to be fair, blame Sony for making Franco look the way he did for his 'Goblin look'. Absolutely shambolic!

At least this suits the Winter Soldier, Plus, if they wanted, just removing the Face mask & using those Goggles would look awesome (Seeing as how some on here think the Domino Mask would be cheesy, even though I'd be happy with a Domino Mask personally).

At least this way, removing the Facial Mask, keeping those Goggles, somewhat still resembles the Winter Soldier look from the comics without having him having to wear a Domino Mask.

WIN / WIN all round for everybody.

Personally, I've enjoyed the look of Winter Soldier from all of the concept art so far, can't wait until pics of Sebastian Stan in the gear start popping up online.

I didn't make the New Goblin similarity until I read it here on the forums shortly after the first concept art was released. Now I can't un-see it.

*sigh*

Love the rest of WS's look though.

I'm glad so many other people also thought Winter Warrior looks like a mix of his comic image and the 'modernized' Goblin mask.
This is going to be another busy movie with Cap, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Fury.. and GSP playing Batroc! And we will likely see other characters introduced to spin-off into other Marvel movies.
Of course most of us are going to see it, hopefully we can reserve our judgements, especially the negatives, until then.

Damn ahame they gave Bucky such a shittydeath in TFA. Hopefully they can make up for the lack of friendship Bucky and Cap had in TFA with some moving flashbacks and dialouge. As of right now, Bucky and Cap's relationship onscreen barely had any meaning and could make Bucky's return clichè and boring wighout the emmotional investmemt.

The look is fantastic. Come on people! I'm almost sure Cap will spend half of the movie searching for the WS without knowing his true identity. The revelation will eventually come and Bucky will no longer need the mask after that.
