Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

I admit while I haven't gotten excited for this film yet, that poster is pretty cool. Hope they can make this work out.

Fantastic! (This comment intended for fellow Whovians only.)

Eccleston is great in everything. Even G.I. Joe. As terrible as that movie was at least they didn't ruin my favorite character. Destro is just too pimp to screw up.

Is it just me or is Natalie Portman's face position on that poster seems off?

Um, Levi. Loki? Even if you didn't like Thor, Hiddleston was great. Better than any other CBM villain but Dark Knight.

Tom's performance as Loki was and is great. It's worth the price of a ticket alone to see it. But Loki hasn't been great let. I have yet to see Thor but Loki wasn't great in Avengers. He mostly sat around and got his ass kicked.

We first see him, he kills a few guards, then the building collapses and really Loki is blamed for that when it's not his fault just the radiation from the portal, then we see Loki at the party doing something to some guy's eye, then he commands everyone to kneel but never kills anyone, then he gets his ass kicked to Cap and Iron Man, then he sits around while Thor and Iron Man go blow for blow, then he's held captive and sits around, then he kills Coulson which is now meaningless since Coulson is back, then he talks to Stark and throws him off a building only for Stark to jet back up and knock Loki on his ass, then he fights Thor and pussies out on a speeder, then he's tricked (the God of Mischief and tricks is tricked?) by Hawkeye and his speeder exploses, then Hulk beats the shit out of him, then that's really it.

Tom is great as Loki but Loki hasn't but great yet. I think he will be in Thor 2 if he cuts off Thor's hand.

Natalie Portman is really the weak link on these movies. She can be a great actor when she wants, but she clearly doesn't give a crap. (Star Wars prequels?)

These are definitely Marvel's best posters.

Demiurge - 9/5/2013, 9:52 AM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Agreed. I think the 2nd one is fantastic. It's not overcrowded like Marvel recent posters (Iron Man 3, bleh), and it's stylized none-the-less.
RexDartEskimoSpy
RexDartEskimoSpy - 9/5/2013, 9:53 AM
Fair enough. It is kinda sad that Loki has been Marvel's only villain to really make an impact, but they've always been more about relatable bad guys than epic forces of evil for the most part. The Joker wouldn't fit in the Marvel Universe. Plus, their best villains are licensed to other movie studios. (Doom, Magneto, Spidey's rogues)

Man, Le Monde Des Tenebres sounds so much better than The Dark World. It should be Dark Realm or Dark Kingdom or something.

How can one discern whether or not Tom was a great villain when they never saw the first Thor?

I hope it's not a dream sequence :) It will be pretty badass if Loki actually cut off Thor's arm for real. :D
