Didn't expect to like the music with Marvel's track record on soundtracks but I'm really surprised. Good stuff.

Ugh. I am not overly fond of this score. It's trying way too hard to be Lord of the Rings-esq... and while it does have its good moments, it just doesn't ring true to me.

I miss the Patrick Doyle score.

"Thor vs. The Destroyer" is my favorite track of any Marvel movie EVER thus far (with the possible exception of "The Avengers" from, well, The Avengers score). And coming in at a close third is "Captain America March" from Captain America: The First Avenger, followed shortly thereafter by "Gulmira" from the first Iron Man.

All the Marvel movies have had decent music TO BEGIN WITH, but for some reason the music from the sequels have so far fallen flat for me.

Track 19 "An Unlikely Alliance" maybe contains a little spoiler… An excerpt from some theme composed by Alan Silvestri in 2011 :)

it never matters how a theme sounds, its the fact that you KEEP IT that makes it a theme. At first no one really cared about the superman theme in the 70s because it wasnt the same as the show. It became the standard cause you keep it around. I hate when they change composers. we have 3 movies with thor in them and no movie has the same music for him. The one things spiderman did right was keep the same composer, so when you go in the theater and it goes black and you hear that first set of violins, you know what superhero is on the way. hopefully they keep this song for avengers 2 and 3 and thor 3. Sylvestri said he thought having everyone's theme in avengers would be confusing, but he managed to squeeze his captain america music in there but no one else's. son of a bitch.
