Kenneth Branagh Speaks On THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Would the original Thor director have done things differently if he were at the helm of last year's Marvel sequel, Thor: The Dark World? The British actor/director sort of answers that after the jump!

"Yep, I enjoyed it very much," Kenneth Branagh told Total Film when they asked if he has seen Thor: The Dark World, the Alan Taylor-directed sequel to his 2011 Thor movie. "I think inevitably one would have headed in a different direction because there's so many variants [and] possibilities across the stories. When we were doing the first one, just literally deciding who was gonna be in, at which worlds and realms we were gonna be in.... It took a long, long time. There was much to sift from, so it's inevitable that the choices were always infinite. I really liked what they did, but I would've probably gone in a different direction." What do you think?

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor. The film is produced by Kevin Feige, while executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Thor: The Dark World hits shelves on Blu-ray/DVD on February 25, 2014.

Maybe he would have had a better story, since TDW is the most generic super hero movie I ever seen.

I liked Thor but I think I did like The Dark World better. I liked the scope that Dark World took on. Both were great but TDW slightly edges it out.

I will say that out of all of the twists(figuratively and literally) in the CBM of 2013, Thor: TDW had the best!

@Omega

; )

I wish the movie had more scenes like when Loki was using his magic to hide his true emotions, and less scenes with people running around in undies. They also should have written the mother with more depth because I felt nothing when she died. Maybe on my second viewing, it will be better.

Loved the Dark World. Loved Thor. But the Dark World captured Asgard better, had a more jovial Thor/Loki dynamic(which was awesome by the way), and had better action(I still hate that Destroyer fight from Thor).

I thought TDW did a pretty good job at showing Thor's power. The problem was that his villains this time around we're portrayed to equal him.

Yeah, that character had so much potential, should have kept her alive. They did make her badass, and the connection between her and Loki was some of the best stuff in the movie for me.
