Though we've yet to learn officially which Marvel character(s) will follow Ant-Man on the Phase 3 lineup of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, there have been rumblings of Doctor Strange and, more recently, third installments to both Thor and Captain America franchises. However, it seems to be neither, according to Joblo's "reliable" sources: "...the film currently on slate for the May 6, 2016 date is Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The site goes on to "confirm" a Comic Book Movie scoop that an animated series based on the intergalactic superhero team is also in-development for a Fall 2015-Disney XD debut and it would "segue" with the live-action Guardians of the Galaxy 2. If true, giving the James Gunn-directed adaptation a sequel as early as 2016—and on the same day that Warner Bros. will unleash their Batman/Superman movie—should be a good indication that Marvel/Disney is pretty confident in the film. However, the same could be (and has been) said for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which also has a sequel in the works as aforementioned. Nonetheless, Joblo further advises that we should take this as a rumor, but expect announcements from the horse's mouth in the coming months or closer to San Diego Comic-Con. What do you think?
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.
