SUICIDE SQUAD Trailer Overtakes BATMAN V. SUPERMAN On YouTube

DC's two most iconic heroes may be about to go head-to-head, but it looks like the villains are winning! Only seven days after its official release, the first trailer for Suicide Squad has exceeded all expectations and even overtaken the BVS trailer with views on YouTube!

What's more exciting than watching Batman and Superman square off on the big screen for the first time? Task Force X apparently! In a surprising turn of events, the Comic-Con trailer for Suicide Squad has overtaken it's Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice counterpart on YouTube views - despite being released a whole two days later. Currently, the David Ayer helmed film is sitting on over 36.1 million views on the popular video sharing website, while BVS has only 34.9 million.

It's worth mentioning that these figures only take into account the videos released on WB's official YouTube channel. It's still great news for DC/WB, who may have originally had some concerns about Suicide Squad's bankability. Jared Leto's Joker was likely the big draw for general audiences, but it's possible the movie's intruiging villain-centric concept turned some heads too. Regardless of the cause, it looks likely that DC/WB now has not one, but two hits on its hands for 2016.

Unfortunately for the studio, neither trailer came close to matching the number of views reached by both the Star Wars: The Force Awakens (58.2 million) and Avengers: Age Of Ultron (50.6 million) trailers in their first week. Given that the DCEU is still a very young franchise, perhaps we'll have to wait a few years for the Justice League: Part One trailer to challenge those numbers. Which DC trailer did you prefer? Sound off below with your thoughts!

Suicide Squad will hit theatres August 5, 2016 - just over four months after Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice arrives on March 25.

Nice, Suicide Squad is definitely my most anticipated movie

I'm sure it will keep gaining hype as the release date gets closer. I'm ready now though, I want to avoid anymore trailers, speculation and spoilers, haha

B v S looks amazing too, next year is gonna be awesome

Suicide Squad actually looks like it'll be a better and more interesting movie than BvS. Its trailer already has a better replay value than the one from Snyder's film.

The BvS trailer is leaps and bounds better than the SS one but I think SS' improves pretty good on repeating viewings.

I suspected this might happen after Suicide Squad replaced BVS on YouTube's front page, especially with its very clickbaity thumbnail

Trailer views mean nothing. Its the box office numbers that count.

SS and BvsS both look phenomenal, but the key difference between the two projects for me is how Zack Snynder hasn't yet directed a phenomenal movie. Everything he has directed for me has been either meh (MoS,Watchmen,Dawn of the Dead) or complete horse shit( Sucker Punch, 300,Legend of the Guardians). I really hope he turns some heads with this one though.

DC going to own big time!! Specially with the apocolypse purple thing they made for the new x-men! So guttered they ruined the only character I was looking forward to see in the x-men franchise! bring on bvs and suicide squad! Both look craaaaazy mean!

DC's trailer views and box office will never eclipse Marvel's. As good as their movies could get, the general movie audience have already fallen in love with the Avengers and the MCU, and will view all WB/DC stuff as trying to copy Marvel. On top of that, parents prefer something light/funny to something dark/heavy when thinking of taking the kids to the movies.

And this is from someone who loved Man Of Steel and is super pumped about the DCEU.

Woah, well here comes the Brotherhood of Mutants movie.

So is there enough analysis yet to show what kind of correlation there is between YouTube views and opening weekends and lifetime grosses?

Suicide Squad actually looks like it could turn out well. Can't find any enthusiasm for Batman v Superman.

I don't know... I think Batman has by far the best villains in comics but the rest of DC not so much...

Its not the right comparision really.

SS trailer is the 1st one, while the BvS trailer is the second from the movie, so obviously it would get a bit less than the very 1st BvS trailer.

That would be a better comparision: Bvs 1st trailer with SS 1st trailer too.

DCEU = DC Extended Universe. It's what they're officially calling their cinematic universe.

@clarkman stop equivocating dude star wars episode 1 was released in 1999, a majority of people didn't have access to high speed Internet at that time. There's more hype for episode 7 than BVS and there was more hype for age of ultron. Doesn't mean necessarily that either movie was or will be better (might be but we have to wait and see) but the hype is bigger. The BVS trailer is awesome you don't need to work that hard to find try and find some way that dc is winning

I'm surprised that BvS isn't getting more attention than that, but regardless I'm sure that the Suicide Squad trailer is drawing viewers curious about seeing the new take on the Joker.

Will Smith shouldn't have been cast there. His only real talent is to play Captain Steven Hiller even in dramatic roles.
