Stephen Amell Thinks It's A "Safe Bet" That Oliver Will Find Out About His Son On ARROW

Despite showrunner Marc Guggenheim seemingly ruling out ever seeing Oliver's young son on Arrow, the show's star Stephen Amell is very interested in introducing Connor Hawke and exploring their father/son dynamic. Hit the jump to check it out!

Many fans have wondered when Oliver Queen's son would appear on Arrow. The young boy, who is presumed to be Connor Hawke, was first referenced in late Season 2, but hasn't featured at all since. Fans of the character's hopes were dashed last month, when showrunner Marc Guggenheim responded to a fan asking whether that story would be revisited with a blunt "No." However, it seems star Stephen Amell, disagrees. A proud father himself, Amell cited his own personal connection to the story arc as the main reason why he would like to see it featured on the show.

“Me personally being a dad, I would love to see how Oliver interacts with having a kid. Now obviously, it would be a different experience from that experience, but I think that that storyline deserves further attention. One of the big tenets of Greg Berlanti is you don’t introduce something to the audience and you don’t tease it if you are not going to follow through with it in some way, shape or form. So I think it’s a safe bet that Oliver will find out about his child at some point.”

A "safe bet", huh? Is that some inside knowledge on Amell's part? Or perhaps it's only wishful thinking? Even if it's the latter, there's a chance he could sway the writers towards his point of view if he feels so passionately about it - and he's likely to have plenty of fan support too. After all, what's the point of a Green Arrow show if you don't include one of Oliver Queen's most vital supporting characters? Now it's just a matter of where to fit him - in amongst all that essential Olicity drama...

Would you like to see Connor Hawke feature on Arrow? This version of the character is probably too young to suit up as Ollie's sidekick, but he could at least offer the show some new dramatic direction. As always, leave your thoughts below!

Arrow Season 4 starts October 7 on The CW.

So if his logic is true, then why hint at HAL on the FLASH ? Will that be further explored as well ?

Every show should have a star as enthusiastic about his role as Amell. I don't know if it makes Arrow one of the better shows on tv or anything, but it does make it easier to root for him.

Batman lite? you do know that Connor Hawke appeared before Damian Wayne. Damian appeared in 2006 while Connor appeared in 1994. though, TECHNICALLY Damian appeared as an unnamed baby in 1987 (yes, through the magic of comics, he was born in 1987, then introduced in 2007, as a 10 year old, but, 21 years later)....
the thing i find funny is how no one is up in arms about the race changes? Connors mother is half black and half Korean, but on the show she was a white chick...
come on now, if you are gonna lose your heads over Johnny Storm, Heimdall, Nick Fury and Iris West, then lose your mind about this.

@DarkeyeZ, Comicbook Movie Fans are fickle. Yes, there was noise in the beginning with those "race change" announcements. But after seeing how it turned out and not impacting the Movies or Shows in anyway it died down. From a continuity standpoint I can see people getting upset, but these Movie/TV Producers seem to know what there doing as all those Movies you mentioned did quite well.

re: Connor, I say hold his appearance til the Legends of Tomorrow Season1 mid-season finale

It'd fit better on Legends of Tomorrow where they can truly have that awkward father/son moment after adding a bit of time-travel sauce.

That way, Connors anger has had time to grow, where he's an adult and passed the idolization phase kids can sometimes have about missing/absentee parents, completely disillusioned by the whole "hero" shtick.

On Arrow - Ollie and Connor just stare at each other awkwardly
On Legends of Tomorrow - they have a father/son archery duel.

@DoktorWeezil - Did you even read the article you whiny little toad? No one said anyone is "definitely" appearing.

It's shocking to me that no one has even considered the fact Guggenheim could be,you know, lying? Just like how Khan isn't in Star Trek into Darkness apparently.

I wish what you said was true, but if you think things have calmed down from the movie race changes (can we start saying color changes, as we all belong to the human race, and it's not like they are changing these people into aliens), then you must be steering away from the comment sections of Fantastic Four articles.

I will say this, I have nothing against changing the color of a characters skin, but can we get some diversity up in here? there are other people besides black and white people...can we get a Samoan Robin? or a Japanese Wonder Man?or a Mexican Juggernaut?

the kid is about 8 years old at this point, do you really want to see an 8 year old on the show

@Batmannightwing
you are BEYOND deluded. Stephen Amell is NOT getting "big blockbuster roles from different studios", lol...he got the role of Casey Jones in sequel to a movie that most people hated...
while Hayley Atwell and Clark Gregg has extensive acting careers.
while love Arrow, Stephen Amell is NOT a good actor. he is about as good as Scarlett Johansson...and that is NOT a compliment. Clark Gregg is good, but better when there is comedy involved...but Hayley Atwell is a VERY good actress.

What I think he's saying is that yes Oliver will find out about his son, and that he will meet him, but we won't be seeing teenage Connor Hawke or anything. It will add a new dynamic if they do bring him in though. To have teen Connor we'd need to jump ahead 10 years.

@BatmamNigjtwing:

You are totally correct. TMNT was a blockbuster, & DCTV actors like Amell are getting considered for more & more roles. Meanwhile, those Marvel actors you named, are stuck in the minor leagues, even though it's supposedly "all commected". You haven't seen them in a single movie since, even though that where they all started out.

Gregg is basically Marvel's water boy, cheering "GO MARVEL!!" from the sidelines, but never being put in the actual game. It's sad, when you think about it.

Bring Connor in via time travel. In the current timeline he's way too young to become a superhero. Give him a small story arc (kinda like Laurel's Black Canary arc in Season 3), then send him back to his timeline... or kill him, either one i can live with. But it definitely would be interesting to see Green Arrow II.
Just don't do like the soap operas and age him up to young adult in a matter of two years or so

I mean I agree with some posts here, just have Connor Hawke guest star in a Legends of tomorrow episode since its about time travel and what not that'd be an interesting story ark, you know go into the future theres some archer running around they think its Oliver but it turns out to be his son Connor and go from there or something

I might be in the minority but I actually think his acting is pretty great for an action guy. He shows a lot of emotion with his facial expressions. He seems to be a genuine dude who has great ideas and isn't afraid to express them!

@Batmannightwimg lmao Amell isn't a good actor and by thinking so doesn't mean I automatically beleive Gregg and Atwell are better actors. Looks like you just got butthurt and started attacking those two actors for no reason lmao.
