NBC Orders Pilot For DC Comics Workplace Comedy POWERLESS

This might just be the perfect show for you! NBC are teaming up with a former A To Z writer to create a workplace sitcom in the vein of The Office - set in the world of DC superheroes!

Imagine The Office set in the world of superheroes. That's what former A To Z creator Ben Queen looks to be attempting with his new half-hour workplace sitcom, Powerless. According to Deadline, it's a series set in a US insurance company that exists in the DC Comics universe. The show will demonstrate "the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains", adding a little humor and levity to this otherwise fairly dramatic genre.

Produced by Warner Bros TV, Powerless has just landed a pilot production commitment from NBC. Deadline's sources claim that there's still no word on which DC characters could appear, but that it's "not expected to include the biggest DC brands like Batman and Superman." Regardless, this sounds like a pretty amusing and creative take on the increasingly popular superhero genre, and may even serve as a platform for some of DC's lesser known heroes and villains.

What do you think of the show's premise? Will you tune in if NBC give the pilot a green light? And which DC characters would you like to see cameo or appear? Sound off below!

Thanks to @blackandyellow for the tip!

And @MisterBatfleck for (almost) helping me find the perfect image. If only there was a DC version of this:

This sounds amazing. This is probably not set in the DCEU but if it is, amazing! If it's anything like Parks and Rec or the Office, this will be hilarious.

Question: Which DC live-action universe is this set in? MOSverse? Arrowverse? Separate (oh please God no)?

@Amazing512 - It's awesome isn't it? Thank MisterBatfleck! I looked for ages to find a DC version of it, but had no luck. I agree, this concept seems brilliant. I hope NBC actually pull it off - the only decent comedy I watch at the moment is Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

This is the kind of show that you could bring in Supergirl, Flash and Green Arrow and not even have it be in-canon. Just bring them for an episode for laughs. I'd love to see Flash trying to get insurance for his legs. See if he can get as much as Taylor Swift got.

Awesome! I've always wanted a show or a movie like this, just normal people living in a world of superheroes. Could be fun!

Or it could be canceled

Because NBC..

Could be good. I haven't followed a sitcom since Scrubs.

Ben Queen created A to Z, which NBC canceled after only 5 episodes. He also wrote Cars 2, the worst Pixar movie. Not the least good Pixar movie, but the worst Pixar movie. The one lacking quality. His involvement in this project doesn't inspire confidence.

Just this morning I was thinking DC should do a show about regular people living the the DC Universe, sorta like Gotham Central.

I saw Man From UNCLE today, actually pretty good. Cool action, Cavill and Hammer have great chemistry. Cavill is badass and charming, want him as Bond now.

This could be funny if done right. With how Parks and Recreation & The Office we're done, I'm expecting this will be good too.
