Kate Mara Reflects On FANTASTIC FOUR's Tricky Shoot, Bad Reviews & Sequel Chances

It's fair to say Josh Trank's Fantastic Four film hasn't gone down very well... with anyone. Regardless, actress Kate Mara (who played 'Sue Storm') still had a few positive things to say about her experience working on the movie in a new interview, one month after its release...

Sadly, Fantastic Four appears destined to go down in CBM history for all the wrong reasons - with rumors of studio meddling and the director's wayward behaviour dominating most headlines. Actress Kate Mara (a.k.a. 'Sue Storm') recently reflected on her experience working on the flop with The Times (via nzherald). Somewhat refreshingly, her responses didn't only focus on the negatives.

The former House Of Cards star began by admitting she still hadn't seen the movie - revealing that the overwhelmingly negative reviews had made her feel "a little gun-shy" about doing so. Judging from Fantastic Four's disappointing worldwide gross of just $156 million, it seems she wasn't the only person put off by them. She also called Josh Trank's reponse to the film "highly disappointing", when asked about the director's controversial outburst on Twitter.

Nevertheless, Mara insisted she still had a "good time" working on the superhero flick. "It was a tricky shoot," she confessed, "But you know... when you know when you're shooting it that a film isn't going to be what you want it to be (sic)? That was not the case at all." She also claimed the cast "really had each other's backs" during the film's (seemingly very troublesome) production, and singled out their bond as her own personal highlight. "That makes me most bummed because we have no idea if we'll ever make another one," she stated.

Few truly blame the movie's cast for its disappointing outcome. Regardless, they've all since moved on to better things. Mara will next be seen in Ridley Scott's highly anticipated sci-fi film, The Martian (which is currently picking up rave reviews at TIFF). Do you sympathize with her comments, or do you think she was part of the problem? Sound off in the comments below!
