The TERMINATOR Franchise Is Apparently "On Hold Indefinitely" At Paramount
Despite exceeding financial expectations overseas, it appears that Terminator Genisys was quite damaging for Paramount Pictures - thanks, largely, to its modest performance at the domestic box office. According to a new report from THR, the franchise is now on hold... indefinitely.

Despite making well over $400 million at the international box office, it appears Terminator Genisys has been seen as a disappointment by Paramount. According to a new report by THR (titled 'The Dangers When Financiers Think They Can Produce Movies, Too'), the film will still lose money for the studio, and the Terminator franchise has since been put "on hold indefinitely".
This news may come as surprising to some, following the film's impressive financial performance overseas (it's racked up $112 million in China alone). However, it seems as though Genisys' thoroughly underwhelming domestic performance (alongside some truly scathing reviews) was the final nail in the coffin for a series that once looked set to spawn two sequels and a TV series.
This is the second high profile sci-fi franchise to be put on hold in recent weeks, following Pacific Rim 2's cancellation delay. With CBMs & Star Wars flicks set to dominate the next few years, will other blockbusters start to miss out? Are you disappointed by this news, or do you think it's for the best?
