While promoting Man of Steel in an interview with ET, actor Russell Crowe discusses his upcoming movie Noah and how the titular character isn't the "all around nice guy" everyone think he is.

"The funny thing with people, they consider Noah to be a benevolent figure because he looked after the animals: 'Awww, Noah. Noah and the animals.' It's like, are you kidding me? This is the dude that stood by and watched the entire population of the planet perish. He's not benevolent. He's not even nice. At one point in the story his son says, 'I thought you were chosen because you were good?' And he goes, 'I was chosen because I can get the job done, mate.'"

Noah stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Ray Winstone and Sir Anthony Hopkins. The film is set to hit theaters March 28th, 2014.

Huh. I guess I was just thrown off by that part in Genesis that says "Noah was righteous and walked with the true God" and again "Noah was faultless among his generation." As much as I like these actors and director, none of them- clearly- have any clue. They can't even say "Yeah, our movie isn't really accurately portraying the source material or Mesopotamian setting, we're just making a kind of Mad Max meets Noah flick." SO much opportunity missed, here, to do a truly mind-blowing film- then again, I gotta admit, there remains to be seen just how creative it will be. I just won't see it, I reckon; I'm a Biblical Purist, what can I say.

-Aw, snap!!! Mah man Russell Crowe, Seriously?? 'Just stood by and watched the population of the planet perish'? Guess these filmakers also missed the part in the Bible where it says Noah warned everyone of what was coming 'but they took no note until the Flood came and swept them away'. Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't seem like a guy who passively 'stands by and watches everyone perish'. ....Uh-oh.....dammit, Maximus! Now ya got me Ranting like a hater! -Snap!

Lem1@ I remember them saying many times that this is their own take.

Post Apocalyptic take of Noah with many fantasy elements (Giants + other monsters)
