Could Nathan Fillion be involved with THE AVENGERS after all?

While watching the new Avengers/Castle teaser spot, I noticed a very interesting similarity between it and a previous Marvel promo video...

After watching the Avengers/Castle cross-over spot featuring Nathan Fillion and Robert Downey Jr. that aired after last night's episode of Castle, I noticed something interesting about the background.

It's the exact same background used in another Marvel promo video featuring Clark Gregg promoting the Avengers red-carpet premiere live stream.

See? The backgrounds are THE SAME. "What does this mean, Saint?" I'm very glad you asked (even though I know you didn't). I think that maybe these promos were shot at the same time and/or location.

"Well? What does THAT mean, Saint?" Uuuhhhh, well, I think it means that if Nathan Fillion was there while other Avengers cast members were filming videos, then Fillion could very well be more involved with the film than we think.

"But Saint! Nathan Fillion once said he doesn't have time to play Ant Man in The Avengers!" I assume your making reference to this short interview with Fillion:

So, Fillion had no time to play a predominant role in the film because Castle had him so busy. But yet, he found time to do the promo seen above, and he also had time to crash the "Joss Whedon Experience" Comic-Con panel last year:

So, just because Castle had him so busy during the filming of The Avengers, he might not be so busy to do Edgar Wright's Ant Man film when it finally gets going. Or when The Avengers 2 heads under way...

So, could Fillion cameo in the film? Could he probably play a small secret role? Could he possibly be in the newly filmed scene? Could he be our.... Ant Man?

We'll all find out May 4th at midnight! See you there...

If Marvel Studios can get Nathan Fillion and Morena Baccarin for Ant Man and Wasp...I'll forgive them for what they did in The Avengers to one of the characters.

This would be so amazingly awesome if it is true, Fillion would be the perfect Ant Man IMO. I have a very strong feeling the extra scene they shot has to do with the other unnamed Marvel movie coming out in 2014. Ant Man is actually a VERY strong possibility if you think about it.

I simply do not understand the gushing about Ant Man. His power is incredibly uninteresting for the big screen. The character could not hold up his own movie and he would pale in comparison to the other names already on screen. There's simply no place for him. As for Wasp, I'm simply going to point to Zoe Kravitz' character in X Men: First Class.

I'd rather see him as Starlord in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. That would be alot more bad ass than an Antman movie. Antman and Wasp should be left for the Avengers 2.

While I didn't notice the background, I did leap into similar conjecture once that promo aired last night.

Let's face it... the best thing they could do for an "Ant Man" film is to introduce the character to audiences of "The Avengers" this time around, even if it's just briefly. One scenario that fits the "just added" scene they filmed would do just this... Marvel has signed someone to play Ant-Man in a film set to go later this year/next year, and instead of simply announcing it they're going to get a ton of buzz by slipping a cameo into "The Avengers", and prep audiences to start thinking of "Ant-Man" as a sequel.

Renner filmed his "Thor" cameo well after the rest of that was shot... It would fit, to some degree.

Best Explaination: He's in it, and I'll tell you why/how. Marvel was purchased by Disney. Castle is on ABC. ABC is Disney. We still have yet to hear ANY news on the long awaited Ant-Man. Whedon WANTS Fillian as Ant-Man. The comic community WANTS Fillian as Ant-Man apparently. Too busy filming a TV show with a modest audience rather than film a Major Motion Picture by the same company as a Super Hero? Not likely. The only explaination him not being in it is if he signed some paper w/ DC that he would not appear in any "Marvel" property, which is unlikely cuz Marvel is Disney and Disney has Castle.

Basically... 1+1=2

The spoilers are out there in the open for Avengers Assemble at this point.

If Fillion IS in the super secrent extra scene, he'll probably won't be ant man. he'll probably be regular old pym. and the scene would be him, banner and tony talking all science-y and stuff.

That would be cool to finally get this guy in a real live action superhero franchise. A little long in the tooth, so the sooner the better!

not feeling it. Fillion at 41 would be nearly 50 by the time we got a trilogy.

come to think of it

RDJ as great as he is, is 47 years old.

Ruffalo is 45

Renner is 41

I hope they hurry up with the sequels. These guys are getting old quick

Chewtoy - 4/17/2012, 12:27 PM
@LordHuck: My best guess at what Disney will want if Avengers is the success people are expecting will be Avengers 2 in 2015 and Avengers 3 in 2018 at the latest... This is assuming they're willing to wait 3 years between Avengers flicks.

So really, Fillion would be no older than RDJ is now... and he would be playing a scientist character who doesn't really need to be super-cut to make his powers work.

I'm actually really happy that Marvel hasn't cast super young in anticipation of sequels, at least so far.

I have no idea why, but I feel like if Nathan Fillion can't play Ant-Man, then Bill Hader would make a good choice...

Yes. Bill Hader.

He's tight with Edgar and he's got that nerdy, everyman vibe. I bet he could put on some muscle for the role no problem.

Am I crazy?

Ant man doesn't need his own movie anyways, just have him make a cameo or be in the background as pym just so we get ultron.

If they still want to use him, the cartoon is the way to go- ant and giant man together but like only used at the end as reinforcements lol
